Menopause friendly

The NHS trust I work for announced that it is Menopause friendly. I'm a bit baffled about why this is needed. I get that some people really struggle with it. But since they don't really care about other conditions, why this?

Because it's been a huge ignored area.

Not that it necessarily means much.

Because almost every woman, half the population, will face menopause at some point. Research suggests (and much anecdotal evidence re-enforces) that women's life chances are affected because symptoms (when not recognised, understood or supported at work) can lead to discriminatory treatment and/or women leaving the workplace/stepping back/not taking career progression opportunities and generally losing earnings.

It's all a bit shit - women face inequality in the workplace if they become mothers and then again when menopausal.

Be nice if the NHS as a whole was menopause friendly. They don't even prescribe testosterone for women. FFS.
Like many other women I had to go private to get my HRT sorted out properly. My GP prescribed anti-depressants.

It would be nice if they just treated their staff better full stop!
