Am obsessed with 80s music in general anyway but have recently seen a theme emerging in my current favourites and would love some tips on other songs I might like.

Links to my most listened
to below.

Fancy a bit of a YouTube sesh as kids at their dads and it's just me, ddog and a few glasses of Christmas cheer 🎅.

Anyone got any other suggestions in a similar vein to any of the above?

🍷 and 🍫 to all.

this is not my bag but was a massive 80s hit across Europe

@SequinsandStiIettos

See this screams europop to me but wasn't 80s
(ATC around the world)

I bloody love this 😳. Adore Europop of all eras (last year I booked a day off work after each SEMIFINAL of Eurovision so I could get pissed whilst watching think carefully about the entrants 🤔).

Probably wise we keep this thread purely for the 80s stuff!

I once played this in assembly when the theme was safety, for no reason other than to educate the kids musically! Wink

Wow @converseandjeans that’s an amazing list. Don’t know Boys Boys Boys but all the rest are fond memories for me.

Midnight Oil - just wow. (Prefer The Dead Heart myself but Beds Are Burning is a true banger all the same.)

Voyage Voyage (along with Joe le Taxi and Pet Shop Boys’ Always on My Mind) bring me back to a disco I used to go to with my friends in a tiny Bavarian village in 1988 when I was studying German as a wide eyed American university student her first time abroad. We were from all over the world and I loved how “sophisticated” I felt hearing all this “euro” music. Happy times!

Another song that gives me that feeling is Berlin’s The Metro. Has a very synthy Euro beat and evokes a Cold War spy thriller (“I remember a soldier sleeping next to me”). Reminds me of a night train I took during the late 80s across Germany from Munich to Berlin and being stopped at the East-West border to show our passports and have our bags checked and worry about getting thrown off the train for some trivial infraction!

Bowing out...I do enjoy a nostalgia thread. Thanks OP Grin
Cannot hear this without thinking of Emma Stone in La La Land

Slightly more sinister-sounding but I LOVE this song:

Falco’s best one - Der Kommissar

An Aussie one (Kids in the Kitchen) Nik Kershaw - the Riddle Anything by Howard Jones (looooove him) Psychedelic Furs -Love My Way

mommybunny they all remind me of school exchanges to France and Germany in the mid 80s. I really wish I could travel at the moment. The train journey sounds really exciting!
