Can anyone recommend a nice tasting champagne?

Hello, I want to buy champagne as a thank you gift.

Can anyone recommend a good one I can buy from a local supermarket please?

I love Pol Roger - you can buy it at Waitrose

I call it the Masserati under the champagnes....

I like Bollinger. Recently a sommelier told me that the Tesco champagne is very good.

Not sure about good ones but I ‘treated’ myself to Veuve Clicquot for New Years a good few years ago and thought it tasted rank! No-one else I was with liked it either. Ended up pouring most of it away!

Perrier-Jouët is my favourite reasonably-priced champagne.

Veuve is always a good, reasonably priced champagne.

Piper-Heidsieck. Should be food supermarket deals at the moment.

I like Lanson black label and often on offer at supermarkets.

Nicolas Feuillete is the Tesco one I think, always does well in blind tastings.

How much do you want to spend? Unless you are splashing the big bucks personally I think other sparkling wines are better value for money as you pay a premium for the 'champagne' tag, if you are wanting to spend £15-20 I would recommend a cremant, cremant de Loire is my favourite but cremant d'alsace, cremant de Bourgogne nice too. Or a bit more pricey but Nyetimber English sparkling wine is very nice too...

Les Mesnil (light green label) is great. Hovers around the cost of veuve. Has been a bit hard to get hold of recently. Waitrose sell. Nicholas feuillette. Blue label or rose. Cheaper and good.
Lanson is not too bad and cheaper again.
Own brand - I rate Waitrose above others which are often too sweet for my taste.
My taste is for very dry champagne. Above are very dry-dry.

Thanks everyone, I am prepared to spend a lot as these people helped me when my roof was blown off in Storm Arwen. Unfortunately my nearest Waitrose is 35 miles away, I'll have a look for your recommendations in Sainsburys/Tesco.

Laurent-Perrier Cuvée Rosé Brut

I quite like an English sparkling called NYE Timber. It was recommended to me and you can get it in Majestic and Marks and Spencer.

We love the M&S Demi brut champagne- it’s not own label, can’t remember what label it is sorry.
Pol Roger yes, but not always easy to get hold of.
Tesco yes too.

Bollinger is our favourite, tattinger is our second choice

Co-op Pionniers Vintage. Honestly.

We love Veuve but also Nicholas Feuilette. Both are in most supermarkets.

Mumm is my favourite (and usually available in sainsbury's)

Honestly the Aldi Monsigny champagne is absolute delicious. You'd never think it was from Aldi!

If you really want to splash out it's got to be Dom Perignon for me. Budget wise I like Lanson and Veuve Clicquot.

Another vote for Bollinger here or Gosset if you want something bloody nice, or some English sparkling wine. Nyetimber/Bolney/Ridgeview

Taittinger is definitely our preferred bottle if looking for a reasonably priced. If you can get a reserve it's even better.

You get more bang for your buck with a good English sparkling wine, depends how much you want to spend and whether it has to be champagne. I like Moët, only had it a couple of times though!
