Would you put your baby in this as an undergarment?

Would you put your baby in this as an undergarment at 3-6 months? The reviews are all 5* and comment on its softness, but I don't know if it's more of a summer 'top', or underwear/vest to go under other clothing...

There are no pictures.

Mrsjayy · 17/12/2021 15:47

Do you have a photo?

You’re overthinking it, it’s just a short sleeved vest with a bit of a frill! I’d personally fine the button on the back too annoying to buy it though.

ImTheOnlyUpsyOne · 17/12/2021 15:53

Yes i used body suits as undergarments in winter then in summer i'd pair them with shorts/leggings/joggers as a top

Ozanj · 17/12/2021 15:53

DS is 2 now but the 18-24 still fits him. I have bought loads of these for him as they are soft and great for layering in winter as he sometime finds jumpers scratchy. In summer I put would use tops by themselves instead of as a layer

Me too.
ShirleyPhallus · 17/12/2021 15:54

Definitely overthinking, I remember how much the early days of having the baby makes you check and double check every decision

Absolutely fine as an under vest, or you could layer with leggings and a cute little cardie in the winter

loveablequalities · 17/12/2021 15:54

Either. Whatever you want to do I think.you could layer it with a long sleeve vest underneath if you wanted the pretty lace bits on show.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 17/12/2021 15:54

The main reason I wouldn't is it appears to be delicate wash only. Baby stuff needs to be easy to wash and dry.

MindyStClaire · 17/12/2021 15:55

Just looks like a normal vest to me - a base layer in the winter to add something with long sleeves over, or something that could be worn by itself in summer when it's hot.

MuslinsRLife · 17/12/2021 15:56

It’s just a vest. Under clothes in winter, can be worn as a top with leggings etc in summer.

It’s not. I wash it at 40 on a mixed wash and it’s fine. It used to get washed on 60 when ds was a baby and these GAP vests were the only ones that didn’t shrink.
Mrsjayy · 17/12/2021 15:58

Yesi would if I had a baby its just a fancy vest really.

Lunde · 17/12/2021 15:59

It's a vest - so yes I would use it. Babies need lots of layers when out and about.

Stilton1 · 17/12/2021 16:00

It was mainly the button at the back that I wasn't sure about... whether it would be uncomfortable for the baby. But sounds like the consensus is that won't be an issue even if it's the first layer against the skin?

OP posts:
BertieBotts · 17/12/2021 16:03

I would avoid it because of the button. I don't put babies in stuff that fastens up the back. Too annoying and I would think uncomfortable.

RoseMartha · 17/12/2021 16:12

Whats wrong with it?
Had my dc been given one I would have used it as a vest this time of year and under dungarees or a pinafore in warmer weather instead of a t shirt.
I wouldnt have personally chosen to buy it as out my budget.

I agree, the baby would be lying on the button.
RedWingBoots · 17/12/2021 18:25

I agree, the baby would be lying on the button.

That would be fine for lots of babies.

The main problem is if you have to undo and do up the button to get it on and off.

Oneforthemoneytwo · 17/12/2021 18:31

Perfect with a pair of leggings in the summer with a little cardigan too

polkadotpixie · 17/12/2021 18:32

Not at that price I wouldn't 😂 I'm sure it'll be fine comfort wise though

Clymene · 17/12/2021 18:35

You need envelope openings at that age. So you can take them off easily after the inevitable poonami

Ozanj · 17/12/2021 18:50

Buttons at the back are brilliant for slim babies as they’ll be able to wear smaller sizes. DS has never noticed them & he’s been wearing them since he was a baby.

Stilton1 · 18/12/2021 00:00

Thank you for all the great input! They're for a present, but I'll order them and see how comfy/practical they look on arrival.
