Getting white bedding 'white' again

DH has a sweaty head and all our white pillowcases have taken on a nasty yellow tinge. I've tried soaking in white vinegar and a bit of Ace bleach and although they are a little better, the stains haven't completely gone. Does anyone have a way of getting them nice and bright and white again? They are my nice White Company ones so I'm keen to get them looking nice again as they weren't cheap!

I use Dr Beckmann Glowhite ULTRA fabric whitener which comes in a box with 2 sachets, at first you'll need to use both, but I put one sachet in a month as a booster.
It's often available on offer from Lidl.

Not very useful this time of year but sunshine bleaches whites brilliantly.

I've tried everything with DHs sweaty head pillowcases and although each remedy has improved them nothing has taken them back to perfect.
I've now given up. I bought grey for his sleeping pillow (and mine) which matches the room but sit underneath the best white pillowcases which are no longer on the pillow he sleeps on and are for show only. Works a treat!

Drying them on a really sunny day. So, come July you can hang them out and get them white again. Helpful!

I was thinking that and then I looked out the window. Summer will come again though so all is not lost.

I got some sachets from Robert Dyas that are designed to brighten/whiten whites. They worked REALLY well. Can't remember the name but they were in the laundry section.

Ace laundry bleach for whites. It’s brilliant. Sometimes they have it in Aldi

Soak in very hot water with any washing powder (this gets the oil out). Then hand wash, when cool enough to touch or use rubber gloves while still hot, with a bar of Oxy or any other soap. I then rinse and throw in with the rest of the white wash. BTW this oil also affects coloured pillow cases and the colours do not take well to being given a very hot wash - they fade, so I stick to white.

Make him wear a swimming cap to sleep in? That won't get them white again, but might prevent recurrences.

Seconding the sachets, from Dylon or Dr Beckmann. I think my mum used to use them for getting her net curtains white again!
I had a badly yellowed christening gown which MIL was keen for DC1 to wear, I washed it with these sachets and then hung on the line in the sun. Worked really well.

Head sweat is basically grease, I'd soak in warm water with washing soda crystals and Biotex.

ShinyballsAndChocolateTinsel · 17/12/2021 17:25

Soak in napisan, wash, then soak again
squirt with stain remover, I've found waitrose or shout the best, then wash again
Tedious but worth it

MrsMigginsEggNogShoppe · 17/12/2021 17:29

I gave them another really long soak in water, white vinegar, Ace and a bit of Bold liquid. Then I gave them a 90 degree wash. They look at lot better but will report back when they are dry. Otherwise I may go down the @fussychica route!

Soak them in vanish whitening powder, but also I’d wash the pillows too, and any pillow protectors. The cases will likely look better if everything is super clean & white underneath it.

MissSteak · 17/12/2021 17:38

Soak in Napisan - overnight a bucket / in bath if it’s quilt covers, or just a lot. Be v generous with the Napisan.

Always separate out the whites to wash.

Add half recommended amount of wash powder. Most add too much, which then doesn’t get rinsed out properly. And perversely attracts dirt.

Add a scoop or two of Napisan with each white wash. *

Don’t bother with softener.
