Negative PCR.

How long did it last. Day 4 here and getting worse not better!

@Pinkcurtwinsinthebin I’m blaming the little grandchildren as well!
One benefit of retirement is I no longer have to worry all night about ringing my head at 6.30 am and listen to her sigh and ask me how long I might be off whilst she silently calculates the supply teacher bill!

WhatMattersMost · 16/12/2021 16:19

This sounds like flu. Which is definitely not your average cold.

twilightcafe · 16/12/2021 16:20

Had my booster on Sunday. Started feeling ropey on Tuesday with shivers, tickly cough and sore throat.
Daily lateral flow tests are negative. Hoping its a reaction to the jab or a nonspecific lurgy.

I was so unwell last week that I was positive I had Covid. All tests negative
It was the worse cold I've ever had and I couldn't work. Could hardly do the school run in the car
Nasty virus but not flu

minipie · 16/12/2021 16:35

Yup same here.

Started last Monday. Tues struggled through work (wfh). Weds/thurs in bed mostly. Then improved after that. Negative PCR on the Weds.

Took a week to feel mostly better and about 10 days (today!) to feel back to normal.

DD has the same thing but she’s been much less ill with it, thank goodness.

Evilpixie41 · 16/12/2021 20:03

Yes.. back in early November woke up with a sore throat which got worse instead of better and in the end had it for 10 days. I was miserable! I had chills, and generally just felt awful for about a week. The cough last another cpl of weeks. All my covid tests were negative (LF and PCR).

BobbieT1999 · 16/12/2021 20:08

If it helps I didn't feel dreadful for the whole 3 weeks, only for about 10 days but it took 3 weeks to recover from fatigue and cough.

The reason it's hitting us all so hard is because we've been isolating so much so avoid contact with all the usual bugs last winter.

Mol1628 · 16/12/2021 20:11

Yes I had this it seemed like a flu. Couldn’t get out of bed for three days. Been run down since. And we’ve just had norovirus too. Most I’ll I’ve ever felt!!

Hope everyone struggling feels better in time for Christmas.

FreeBritnee · 16/12/2021 20:26

Yep. This non covid shit is pissing me off.

Thefuturestory · 16/12/2021 22:52

Now DP and daughter coming down with it!

I've had cold symptoms, sore throat, no headache or temp but really tired and "off" for almost 2 weeks now. It's worse in the evening.

Not Covid but I've kept away from people as much as possible because it would be a rubbish bug to spread anyway.

A596881B · 16/12/2021 23:11

Yes, had my booster on Friday and then straight into this . Feel awful

NameChange74567 · 16/12/2021 23:13

I've had it for about a month now. Negative PCR, have been doing LFT regularly, all negative too. I feel like it comes and goes, can start to feel a bit better one day. I think I'm over the worst of it then feel like I've been hit by a bus the next.

twilightcafe · 17/12/2021 09:32

I felt so awful yesterday I had to stop work and lie on the sofa for two hours, then went to bed at 9pm.
I tested positive on a LFT this morning. So my 'mystery illness' is the dreaded Covid.

Hemingwayscatz · 17/12/2021 10:38

I felt terrible a couple of months ago when I had the so called ‘super cold’. It hit me like a train, I couldn’t believe a cold could make me feel so bad. It was the first cold I’d had for months though so guess that’s why. I didn’t feel shivery or have a fever but just felt so rough, my head killed for at least a week.

Had covid last week and just had a bit of sinus pain and a blocked nose, nothing in comparison to that.

Sn0tnose · 17/12/2021 12:06

I’m on day 5 and getting worse. Taste and smell has gone this morning. Negative tests though.

I haven’t had a cold since 2019 so maybe that’s why it has hit so hard. Luckily I can work from home so I’m staying away from everyone.

Rainbowshit · 17/12/2021 12:15

yep, into week 2 here. DS has been off school for a full 2 weeks now and not much better.

All tests negative

dayswithaY · 18/12/2021 18:39

Mine lasted 3, nearly 4 weeks. Absolutely brutal. Every time I thought I was better it came and kicked me in the face again, it just wouldn't go away.

So many people I know have had this, all tested negative. It was worse than COVID, in my opinion. No one seems to know what it is.

minipie · 18/12/2021 19:47

Sn0tnose my taste and smell went then too and I was convinced it must be covid. But they came back within a couple of days.

RamblingOldWoman · 18/12/2021 19:55

There were reports in a few months ago that common cold or milder flu symptoms would hit people harder this year after less mixing last winter and immune systems not having to fight much due to masks, SDing.

I never normally have the flu jab but I got one due to this and made DH and my adult DC get one too.

AshLane · 18/12/2021 20:12

Yep me too. Been ill for a week.

Work in many schools so not surprised.

I've had to cancel my Christmas because I'm not well enough to plan and shop, we have no decs up, no tree, lights or Christmas food ordered. I also can't risk passing this virus to elderly parents.

ChotaPeg · 18/12/2021 20:46

3 weeks, off work for a week of that. Still struggling with fatigue and dizziness, so needing to pace myself. -ve pcr and lfts.

Ladywinesalot · 19/12/2021 03:46

7 weeks of it.
Dry cough that won’t shift
So tired
At least got rid of all the snot at 3 weeks!
Negative pcr

Hekebro · 19/12/2021 04:30

@Knittingnanny

Yes! Sore throat ( low down on larynx) dry cough , headache , dizzy for a week now. I had covid 8 weeks ago so can’t do a pcr and I’ve had my booster. It’s far worse than the mild covid I had. When I was teaching infants I used to get this every Autumn term but usually worked through it . Don’t think I would have been at school this week though. It’s far worse at night and comes and goes during the day. Hopefully if we are I’ll now we might be better by Christmas Day.
Even if you had covid less than 3 months ago you MUST get a PCR with any new symptoms. I now know 3 people who have had covid twice within 2 months.
garlictwist · 19/12/2021 06:03

I've had a raging sore throat and a cough for a week but other than that feel fine in myself. The tests keep coming back negative so fingers crossed it's not covid. But I am never ill so wish it would just go away.
