A sketch artist is in their way to interview you to get an idea of what the suspect looks like.

Would you be able to give an accurate description including approx weight, approx height and approx age?

I would stand no chance. I can barely recognise people I’ve actually properly met before let alone some random criminal

If they turned up in a clown costume with a big label stuck on them stating their name and address I'd probably manage to say they'd turned up and that's all.

I am terrible. I can't normally recognize again new people I meet until I've met them 2 or 3 times.

I’m weird on this because I score as a super recogniser but I mostly notice how people walk of their gait, hand gestures etc. I recognise faces and body movement but I can’t remember names.

I can confidently say (from experience) that even those who swear they'd be great would be shit

Somehow the proximity to an actual crime sends peoples powers of recollection completely out the window.

I thought I'd be good at the test.
It turns out that I'd only be a good recogniser if the person sidled away from the crime scene so they were facing me the whole time, and with their expression frozen.

Not a chance (and I know for sure as I did actually witness a murder and saw the perpetrators' faces close up but couldn't pick them out of a line up - I knew I'd have no chance but felt obliged to try). I have definite face blindness - however not all faces are equal in my blindness to them - I'm not too bad at recognising and hence remembering white, young, female faces, and could therefore do a reasonable job at describing them I reckon, and have virtually no chance at all with black, male faces, and all other faces come somewhere in between.

If I can picture a face I could describe it - but most faces (unless of people I know well) I can't remember/picture.

I could barely describe my colleagues who I worked with for years in terms if face shape nose lips eye colour.

I could give ethnicity, sex and height I.e taller or shorter than me.
Maybe fatter or thinner.

That's it.

Oh dear - I got 7 out of 14, but worse than that - I was convinced I'd got at least 12!

So I would have sent the wrong man down :-D

Anyone have any other good quiz suggestions......

When I witnessed a tyre slashing I could describe the guy in basic terms, white, blonde, mid height (even 15 years later).
But the best and easiest thing was having a pen and writing down the number plate of the car he'd driven . Police got him.

8/14. Frankly better than I thought because I'm useless at faces. They would definitely get away with it. But I would be able to repeat exactly what they said if that helps
