Sharing a hotel room with our 17 month old?

In between Xmas family visits this year it looks like we (DH, me and our 17 month old) will need to stay over in a hotel. Due to logistics and too much driving to head home overnight. I couldn't find an Air Bnb in an area near the two relatives, so we are looking at a hotel room. DC normally goes to bed at 7.30pm. I'm guessing DH and I will just have to go to bed at the same time and maybe watch a film quietly on our iPad with headphones in the dark.

Has anyone got any tips for sharing a hotel room with a 17 month old?

Are you sure the toddler is as light a sleeper as you think?

Once mines asleep a hurricane won't wake her.

If it's just one night I'd just embrace it. If they sleep well in their buggy you could always put them in pjs and snuggle them in that and go to the pub?

If not, just give it 20mins with the tv on low in the room before you turn the volume up. Pick up wine and snacks and watch something together.

If it’s just for the night I’d forget about strict bedtime. Just take them out to dinner with you and hope they fall asleep in buggy. If you’re doing a lot of driving, make time for a stop and a decent walk/playground visit so they are nice and worn out. When we stay in a hotel, we put the TV on low and if the kids stay awake, it’s fine. They zonk out eventually.

We’ve done this many times with our toddler (now almost 3) think I actually asked on here for advice as well ha!

He never used to (and still doesn’t) sleep on the move so we either pop him in his travel cot and wait in the dark till he was asleep and then put the tv on, or have dinner later and then put him to bed later and just go to sleep with him (glorious)!
It depends on naps / shape of the day / how tired he is. We have a travel blackout blind as well just in case. Always been totally fine.
We’re not fussed about pubs etc so don’t mind staying on the hotel room occasionally. We also prefer air bnb though!

Whenever we did this we would have on a low light, get some roomservice and chat quietly/read/watch ipads. Neither of ours would have slept in their buggy when out somwhere noisy.

Stayed in a great hotel room once that had a little offshoot from the main room with kids beds in (but no door so still part of the room) that even had seperate lighting etc. We were able to sit and watch TV and have a normal night while the kids were asleep in their own little nook. Was great, all family hotel rooms should have it.
