Would you go out to a pub meal tonight, Hampshire?

Just canvassing opinions.

I'm triple vaxxed, husband double, both 60 but not CV. We are due to catch up with 4 friends for a pub meal tonight, outside Southampton.

Given the uptick in messaging from the authorities; and given the government's record for whipping up a hysterical frenzy over The Covid Danger messaging over the past 18 months- recalling they had to wheel out 'eat out to help out' to get us out from cowering behind our sofas; and 'go back to the office', in the same vein....

Would you go?

Yep. I'm out tomorrow and Saturday. Triple jabbed, will be lateral flowing and sanitising all over the shop.

trumpisagit · 15/12/2021 15:59

I am following a "do it while we can" plan at the moment, but we are both boostered.
If your 60 y o DH isn't boostered, is he concerned? I might not go if I was him.

FindingMeno · 15/12/2021 16:00

Yes!

Changeisneeded · 15/12/2021 16:05

If you caught covid would it ruin long awaited Xmas plans? If yes then not a chance if no then I’d go!

Sn0tnose · 15/12/2021 16:15

Not a chance.

Christmas (and being able to visit family) is our priority this year. I’m well aware I could catch it in Sainsburys but I’m not willing to increase the risk, so all other plans are on hold.

Plantsandpuddlesuits · 15/12/2021 16:35

Absolutely yes!

I'm triple jabbed if that makes a difference

ParkheadParadise · 15/12/2021 16:37

Yes I would
Hope you have a great time

Newgirls · 15/12/2021 16:39

Yes!

That sounds very low key. Ask your mates to take tests if you like but you’re prob more at risk buying food shopping!

LefttoherownDevizes · 15/12/2021 16:40

Just back from a lovely pub lunch with three of my colleagues. Work cancelled our Christmas do so we had our own.

Honestly, was so lovely, if you have no big health concerns I would go. So lovely to do something 'normsl' for a bit and hospitality is really struggling with dos being cancelled

countdowntonap · 15/12/2021 16:49

100% yes

thewhatsit · 15/12/2021 16:51

Yes.

That’s not to say it’s risk free but if it’s looking like an enjoyable evening, it’s definitely something I’d want to do. (FWIW, I also think it’s important to support pubs and restaurants)

ALittleOldLadyTookInHerGoat · 15/12/2021 16:55

I'd go.
Have a great time. You could always do Lateral Flows before going. Not that it stops you catching it.
But don't hold your life

Fordian · 15/12/2021 18:01

Thanks.

I was very much of the inclination to go, but I needed a tiny push.

I'm out in the world every day, too; I think covid is just something we have to live with, and my Christmas is pretty low key in the worst case scenario, anyway.

It's a pub, but sitting down in cubicles.

I was also at Hilliers, teen a couple of weeks ago! 😊

It's your round @Fordian
Mines a double brandy and coke, thanks.

AtleastitsnotMonday · 15/12/2021 18:53

Fordian is your username a clue to where this pub is?

Fordian · 16/12/2021 10:30

Close. It was The Steam Town in Eastleigh and a lot of fun it was, too!

HeronLanyon · 16/12/2021 10:32

No I’m being cautious due to two cev in family and don’t want to bugger up Christmas if I can help it.
If it were a funeral or other important event I’d go but not a ‘pub meal’ right now.

HeronLanyon · 16/12/2021 10:33

Oops ! Didn’t notice this was from yesterday ! Good you had good time.

Fordian · 16/12/2021 10:36

Heron that's understandable!
