Should I make a complaint about this rude woman at the post office?

I post parcels about once a week, never had problems sending anything, usually very straightforward, but today I went to a different post office from usual. The woman at the till was being very difficult, saying the address wasn't valid etc when I knew it was, and we know there are mistakes in the software etc. It was all getting ridiculous, she was being totally unreasonable and it turned into an argument.

Then she started shouting at me and said "Get the fuck out of my post office" and swore at me more than once. I'm not usually offended by swearing as is, but it's so unnecessary and totally unprofessional. I'm sure we've all encountered grumpy shop staff occasionally, and obviously people have bad days, but none of them have ever sworn at me and it was very over the top. She was shouting at me and then left the counter and ran off?!

I wouldn't usually make a complaint about staff behaviour, but maybe I should in this case? It was totally beyond just having a bad day. I don't know her name, but the postage receipt has a Session ID on it, which I think might identify which member of staff was logged into the till maybe?

I've also read through some reviews online, and found several referring to the fact that one member of staff in particular is very rude, so I know it's not just me. I also know for a fact that it's not "her" post office and she's not in charge.

If you work in a job where you interact with the public you need to be professional at all times, regardless of what may be going on in your private life.

I had to complain about a volunteer library assistant who was extremely rude to me once. It was personal, she was loud and insulted me in front of many other people and reduced me to tears. She deserved to be complained about. I got an apology from her boss.

On the other hand, an example of extreme professionalism - on the morning of my DF's funeral, the funeral director in charge suffered a sudden personal bereavement which meant that, in his opinion, he didn't do as good a job as normal, and he apologised to us and told us what had happened. If he hadn't told us, we would never have known. I didn't think he had done a bad job at all. I felt so sorry for him having to carry on on that day rather than be at home with his wife.
@ClaudiaJ1 but what if it was the customer who was an arsehole. Everyone perceives things differently. The OP is unlikely to say, I walked into the post office and was an absolute dick to the woman and then I got offended when she told me to fuck off, is she?
Do you really not get it? It doesn't matter if the customer/OP was a dick. The employee should not have sworn and shouted at her. It's unprofessional regardless of the customers behaviour.

Personally, I'd think it was too much bother to complain, likely not to result in anything except more frustration.
I'd forget about it, or well, save it for dinner party stories and not go to the shop again.

I would imagine because there is a lot of money changing hands in the PO that there would be cameras running the whole time. So even if you dont get to see them, once you have a rough idea of the time, her boss will be able to see exactly what went on and if what you say is true words will be had and hopefully her manner improves as a result. One can only hope.

🤔
Honestly, if I went into the post office and a member of staff swore at me. I would be asking her what her problem was and wouldn't be leaving until I found out.

I (and loads of other people according to the local FB group!) no longer use our local post office due to the owner being a total and utter rude, jobsworth cock.

I'd complain about her, OP

I'd love to hear her version of events.

There's two sides to this story. I'm sure she wouldn't of sworn at you and asked you to leave for no reason. So what did you do and or say to her?*

OP was a customer. Are you saying it's perfectly acceptable for staff to shout and swear at customers? It's not, ever

Some people are just in the wrong job for their temperament. It's a bit rich when there are posters everywhere stating poor behaviour towards shop staff won't be tolerated for those very people to behave appallingly towards customers. If they don't have customers they don't have a business.
