CPS and decision making timeline

Hi everyone, might be posting in the wrong place but wasn't sure where to post so my apologies.

I know nobody can really say for sure but just wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation or has any advice.

My ex was arrested in Aug for Section 18 assult on myself and a few other assults on me previously this year.

All the evidence has been gathered now and my OIC is sending it all off to CPS tomorrow. I understand he couldn't give me any idea of how long it will take, I also understand that they may come back with an action list which may make things take longer, also I'm aware there is a backlog due to covid.

But the whole thing has just been so incredibley stressful and has taken a toll on me kind of. I'm just wondering if anyone has been through similar and how long it took for them to make a decision or if anyone has a rough idea at all.

Thank you x

Hi!

i hope you are well and things work out for you. I’m currently in a similar situation and been waiting on cps to make their decision but it’s been almost 2months so just wanted to ask if you heard back from them and did they make a decision in your favour?

i really hope you are doing well and on your healing journey.

Hi,

Mine has been almost 2 months too. Have you heard back? If so, after how long did you get a decision?

Hi! I still haven't heard a final decision yet and it's been over 3months now. However, last week Friday, my officer was in touch with an update that CPS needed a few more pieces of information. In my case they are asking for medical records for any injuries which I don't have and evidence of criminal damages. I really hope things works out for you. My friend is a police officer who has advised that these things take a long time and there is a back log with cps. It's been so stressful waiting for a response so I can understand what you are going through. As soon as I get any updates I will let you know.

Hey, thank you sooo much for getting in touch! I really appreciate it. It gives me somw true light, as so far my OIC is selling me false hopes.

My case is a little different, as I've submitted a withdrawal statement. Because of the delay in the decision making, its too much strain on my mental health - I just wish to continue my life normal without having to wait on somebody - but CPS don't seem to understand that mental health is real.

I wish things speed up for you! And they make a decision in your favour!

Sending you hugs & prayers

I completely understand your situation. When I decided to proceed further with my case back in December last year, my friend, who is a police officer and deals with domestic violence, advised me to drop my case. He said the process is too long and will prevent me from moving on, which isn't good for my mental health and well-being. And now I know my friend was trying to protect me because it is so challenging to be stuck waiting. I find myself constantly reading CPS guidelines and thinking if I have enough evidence or what will happen if they say no and, of course, reliving trauma regularly. Honestly, at this rate, I want my OIC to put me out of my misery so I can finally close this chapter.

Are you currently in counselling? Or receiving any form of support from DV? In my experience, there isn't much they could do. But about 6weeks ago, I couldn't take it anymore and thought if I didn't take private counselling next step for me would be suicidal thoughts.

So I'm so sorry that you are going through this. What helps me is just knowing the worse is over. WE HAVE SURVIVED THE WORSE! If you need anyone to talk to, feel free to message me.

Lots of love, prayers and hugs too :)
