How do you tip the milkman and postman?

I live in a small village but I also live on the main road through it so I don't want to attach a money filled envelope to the empty milk bottles in case it gets pinched..

Erm... I don't...

Is this a thing?

Lolalovesroses · 12/12/2021 21:05

I just give him a Christmas card with the cash inside.

I don't. The money would get pinched.

I tip the paper boy because he comes when I'm having breakfast and I can pass it to him.

Also give a Christmas card with cash in it when I see them.

I don't. I don't have a milkman and the postman earns more than me.

I assume this isn't the plot from a 70s porn film?
I don't, because we seem to have a different post person every week and they turn up at different times every day.

Don't have a milkman and I don't tip the postman.

If you're going to be at home then leave a note asking them to please knock the door, you have a Christmas tip for them. Lovely thing to do if you can.

I live rural and in an awkward place to get too. My postman is a star. I leave a box of chocolates or tin of biscuits for the postman. I give my regular bus driver the same, I dont have to stop the bus he just knows to stop for me. (I hand out chocolate bars to the regulars on the bus too) My old work used to arrange taxis for me. I got to know all the drivers over the years. I also gave them tins of something. Its not about the fact they get paid to do a job. Its just a little thank you for all the times they have gone the extra yard during the year.

Many years ago used to work customer facing and would get lovely gifts every year from customers. I also got gifts when they went on holiday. This is where this stems from for me. I have received kindness from customers and want to pass it on.
