What the hell happened to my legs? In here for traffic

I am 30 weeks pregnant and when I got out of the swimming pool earlier this happened to my legs (see picture)...

I am a bit worried If could be a circulation/clot issue! I googled and the closest thing I found was livedo retuicularis which is caused by small clots and is linked to Aniphospholipid syndrome! I had a couple of episodes of breathlessness I've put down to the huge baby in my rib cage but now I'm overthinking everything.

Could use someone slapping some sense into me some talking down!

Were you cold?

Solasum · 12/12/2021 20:46

Contact your midwife in the morning. That is what she is there for.

I'd call the midwife now and send the photo
It's probably nothing but at least you'll get a good night's sleep not worrying about it

Impatientwino · 12/12/2021 20:49

What Ding said!

October2020 · 12/12/2021 20:50

Ring the maternity line on your notes. I wouldn't wait overnight for this (neither would I go to A&E though!)

Theunamedcat · 12/12/2021 20:50

Speak to 111 ask if you can send a photo

DueyCheatemAndHow · 12/12/2021 20:51

Yeah I'd phone maternity triage

Garman · 12/12/2021 20:51

Are they still like that now, or how long did they take to fade? I'd definitely call midwife or maternity unit etc now, whatever way your area works.

crumblebug · 12/12/2021 20:52

Definitely phone now

Could be nothing, could be something (although I don't know exactly what!)

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 12/12/2021 21:02

Livedo reticularis? My midwife had it on her list of things to look out for. (20 years ago) - usually harmless.

DingADingADingDong · 13/12/2021 09:38

How did you get on OP? Hope everything is alright

OhFGSWhenDoesItStop · 13/12/2021 10:24

Did it fade once you'd warmed up? My legs used to look like that if I went swimming in cold water. So I don't.

user14943608381 · 13/12/2021 10:47

Your feet look the worst, to echo other posters was the water cold/ are you cold? I’d warm up and it’s it’s not gone back to normal I’d call triage. Definitely take this pic to your next mat appointment.

heldinadream · 13/12/2021 10:49

How are you today OP? I thought that photo was moderately worrying. I hope you've taken some action. And are fine!

MalbecandToast · 13/12/2021 10:56

Hopefully just an extreme reaction to the cold pool. Is everything OK now?

MadeForThis · 13/12/2021 10:57

How you're ok

Ghoulette · 13/12/2021 12:00

Hi all,

Just to update I am fine. Spoke to Midwife who checked me over and thinks all is ok, but did blood tests and checked urine/BP for pre-eclampsia and everything seems alright. She said if it happened again to contact her and we can go from there.

So sick of this pregnancy to be honest, it seems to be one thing after another!

Thank you all for your reassurance and help Flowers

It does look very like levido reticularis OP, but I don't think it is the case that is always or even very likely to be linked to anything serious or urgent. I have it often with a condition called Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome- a type of autonomic system dysfunction, and know other sufferers also do. I've been told many times it isn't a sign of anything urgent or of concern, just circulation problems. For me it happens when standing, with temp changes or pressure changes.

With that said of course being pregnant and also it being new it needed looking at, that was the right thing. You can buy a blood pressure monitor and monitor from home easily if you want to keep an eye on your BP or HR, if that might help allay any anxiety. Amazon or any pharmacy do sell them cheaply.

PivotPivotPivottt · 13/12/2021 12:40

This exact same thing happened to me when i was pregnant a few years ago!! I had been suffering with dry skin and rashes for weeks and after it cleared up I went swimming and my legs and feet were like yours. I actually did go onto develop pre eclampsia at the end of my pregnancy but this happened about 5 weeks before I was diagnosed PE.

Interesting...getting tested for Pots right now...and my legs used to go like that when swimming in the sea.

I still go multicoloured purple blue and red blotches.
