Professionals - how does it work?

Do GPs treat and prescribe for themselves? If they saw another doctor for treatment, would they reveal their own job as a doctor, and how would this affect the treatment they received?

Hairdressers: I imagine you can't cut your own hair, but are you very critical of others doing your hair?

Teachers: if you have kids, do you reveal your jobs when you go to parent evenings? Are you more critical or supportive of teachers than the average parent?

GPs shouldn't prescribe for themselves, friends or family. They should be registered with a GP of their own. The GMC isn't keen on 'physician heal thyself'.

They'd probably register with a GP as 'Dr X'. Up to them if they say they're a medical doctor or not. It should in no way affect the treatment they receive.

Husband is a Dr, he has a GP as cannot ethically prescribe for himself or his family. He can decide for himself whether he needs self care or to be seen by a Dr/referred to specialty, or to go to A&E.
There are routes for swifter referrals for NHS staff through occupational health (in the NHS's interests to keep people working)
He doesn't have to give his title as Dr to the health centre if he doesn't want to.

Hairdressers- usually get another colleague in the salon to cut and colour their hair.

GPs cant prescribe for themselves. I wont lie though, when im ill at work ill temporary register as a patient and be treated by a colleague (im a nurse practitioner).

Hairdressers get colleagues to do their hair.

I dont think it'd make a difference to their kids educations if a parent revealed themselves as a teacher. Depends if they wanted to discuss teachings styles I guess?

Teachers aren’t more or less critical than other parents of their children’s schools or teachers. We’re better informed, know what questions to ask and what expectations are realistic.
Yes, my children’s schools knew I was both a teacher and a proactive, supportive parent with high expectations.
