You need immediate medical attention. That's low.

Bunnyfuller · 11/12/2021 22:06

Yes. 999.

Bunnyfuller · 11/12/2021 22:07

84 is bad sats.

willaby123 · 11/12/2021 22:08

Is it seated on your finger properly with a nice strong heartbeat? If so, you need to get to hospital op. You must be gasping for breath.

bloodywhitecat · 11/12/2021 22:10

Have you got nail varnish on? 84% is not good.

Hapoydayz · 11/12/2021 22:11

You need to dial 999

BillywigSting · 11/12/2021 22:11

84 is very low

GreenLunchBox · 11/12/2021 22:11

Are your fingers cold?

Tittyfilarious81 · 11/12/2021 22:14

84 is far too low

3WildOnes · 11/12/2021 22:15

Have you had a chest infection?

Winterlove · 11/12/2021 22:16

Yes, especially if there’s no underlying respiratory condition.

Try making sure your hands are warm, make sure it’s positioned correctly, sit upright and take deep breaths.

If it’s still less than 94, phone 111 for advice.

Givemeyourlove56 · 11/12/2021 22:16

It’s not me it’s a relative in hospital

Lots of conditions can give low sats, is the relative on oxygen? I’m sure they are dealing with it (antibiotics, physio, nebulisers iv drugs etc) regular obs my son had low sats when in with his asthma last year was v v poorly, increased work of breathing & was on nebs, antibiotics, iv magnesium sulphate and hydrocortisone and 8l 02.

I hope your relative will be ok op, we perhaps need more info to comment? 85 isn’t good but I assume as above if in hospital they are dealing with it, there are buzzers to alert a nurse if they aren’t aware?

ohreallynotreally · 11/12/2021 22:47

Depends on the reason why relative in hospital and medical history. If normally fit and well then a problem but if a history of COPD / Emphysema not so much to worry about. If in hospital then the medical team will decide.

makingmiracles · 11/12/2021 22:51

My relative is in hospital as her oxygen dropped below 85, this is very low for someone in otherwise good health, but her bar was set low at 85 because she has copd. So 84 is bad, but not the same as a healthy person with a reading of 84 if you see what I mean. I assume like my relative they are on full flow oxygen which should help, they will still probably be quite breathless and struggle to talk for more than 10 mins.

SD1978 · 11/12/2021 22:59

If they are already in hospital, and are able to text you their saturations, then hopefully they are in the best place to treat it. Many different things can affect the trace, disease, or poor placement. That alone isn't enough info.

Singinghollybob · 11/12/2021 23:05

More context is needed, depends on the person and condition and medical history
