Thailand in December

Has anyone been on holiday to Thailand in December. What's the weather like? Is it nice for families? Does it get dark early?
Looking at the rain today and the cold I'm thinking next December school holiday might be nice to get away,

Do you mean this year? Have you done any research of what current restrictions are?

I would not recommend to go there now. The rules are crazy. Mask rules includes when sitting on the beach.

You are required to do a PCR test on arrival. If you get tested positive (even if you don’t have the symptoms) you will be sent to a private hospital for 2 weeks. If you are negative but close contact to those who test positive (on a plane or on route to a hotel) you will be asked to quarantine in a hotel.

I wouldn’t risk it right now. The rules there change very quickly.

Have been many times pre covid. You get more daylight than in the UK and it's can be hot and humid.

It's brilliant though. The food is great and the people are wonderful.

Depends on where you go in Thailand as to where the visitors come from. Lots of scandi families in most of the places we have been too.

Long flights you can break it up with a stop in the Middle East if you don't want to do it in one go?

Happy to share more of answer questions

Depends which bit. Andaman coast is utterly beautiful and I am supposed to be there now (wails!). Koh Samui area not the best weather. Just do a bit of research.

I'm going next Sunday.

My step daughter is there now and loving it. Everywhere is open. Mask rules only apply in certain areas.

She doesn't want to come home

It would be for next year, I suppose I wouldn't know about the restrictions until nearer the time, so maybe I wouldn't book until s few weeks before. I just wondered if it would be worth the long flight.
Is Thailand nice for families.

Yes, some places are beautiful. We went to Khao Lak at Christmas 2 years after the tsunami, so it was being rebuilt. It’s a heck of a journey, we took 3 flights, Manchester to Abu Dhabi, AD to Bangkok then BK to Phuket. There’s probably more direct flights these days.
Khao Lak is a very child friendly place - traditionally lots of Europeans go, French, German and Swedish in particular.
Weather wise it’s hot, humid, rains almost daily early evening but freshens everything up. Christmas is the high season there.

It's beautiful. And amazing for families.

Do your research - there are places you do not want to go to for either climate or Western sex tourism reasons but don't let that put you off. I
