Baby chin quivering at six months?

Has anybody else experienced this?

My six month old DD occasionally has short episodes where her bottom lip/chin will quiver/tremble.

I'm concerned about it as Dr Google just says this is a newborn reflex which will stop at 3 months. It did use to happen much more frequently but now is maybe once every other day.

-Each occasion lasts for a few seconds
-If I touch her chin the movement stops
-It's always when she's happy or calm, sometimes gurgling, not crying
-Recently has happened after she'sbeen in the bath or when getting dressed so could be cold?

I asked my health visitor previously who had no clue. Can anyone reassure me this isn't something to worry about?

My eldest did this, Im sure he did it for his first year or so but it did happen less and less. He's a strapping 6ft lad now so itdidn't seem to do him any harm. Neither of my other children did it, from memory. I'm sure its just one of those things, stay away from Dr Google it probably won't help!

Is she cold?

Mine used to do this when cold, definitely still at 6 months. Very cute memory, thank you.

Both of mine did this when they were doing a wee in their nappy.

Babies do a little chin wobbly thing when they’re breast feeding sometimes (to encourage the milk out) could it just be this out of context?

CakeSchmake · 09/12/2021 20:12

Thanks @chickensafari, that helps!

@Bellafrenum, that's what my husband thinks, and I agree that it could be cold the times it's happened recently - but it's just her chin trembling and not her whole body?

With my ds it was a milk let down chin/lip wobble, sometimes he did it when not feeding, I sometimes offered milk incase it was a feeding queue, but by a year he had out grown it

*feeding cue, sorry!!

I remember my lot used to have the quivering chin thing too as babies. Forgot all about it till now. All late teens now so I'm sure it's nothing to worry about.
