What have you bought by mistake? Was it good or from the abyss?

Aaargghhh!
Picked up what I thought were Red Leicester slices to go on some Ritz crackers. Have got... vegan cheese. Gluten-free, milk-free, made with coconut oil. Unless any vegans can tell me it tastes different melted, all I can say is yuk, double yuk, eww and IACGMOOH Wink
I tend to buy the wrong thing when not concentrating or when products are together but so close I pick up Korma instead of Massala for example.
Can't think of any mistake that has ever ended well and introduced me to something awesome.
Please cheer me up with mistakes that were more costly or vile than mine (two quid down the drain, thought it was dear). Or alternatively any wonderful breakthrough/serendipitous discoveries Grin

@Bobsyer oh no! I accidentally bought low alcohol wine for my hen weekend. Was so revolting. Also massively disappointing!

Spent all day (ok slow cookering) lovely casserole.. took it out and was quite watery so mixed in some dissolved cornflour before adding homemade dumplings back in oven. All really looking forward to it after busy day.
Turns out DD had mixed cornflour with icing sugar when she made meringues..and had put excess back into cornflour box! Was 75% icing sugar. Even though it was hardly a lot ... we couldn't get past the mega sweetness of it... sugary potatoes and carrots in gravy don't work 😒 had to get a bag of chips!

@Sunsetsupernova

Last weekend I bought these thinking they were regular wafers rather than filled with coconut. I was bitterly disappointed when DP pointed it out to me but they are absolutely delicious and I now can’t stop eating them
Where did you get these? I feel these are exactly what my life is missing
Sunsetsupernova · 08/12/2021 21:43

@sparklefarts weirdly just from a corner shop, they were with the biscuits

loveablequalities · 08/12/2021 23:28

@Sunsetsupernova I think know the ones you mean. You get them in Spar. They have a cream/white packet. Possibly a wee red logo? Are they Swiss or Belgian possibly? Bloody amazing. The part time lady at work brings them in sometimes. We fall on them like ravening wolves.

Bought what I thought were my regular Walkers Salt and Vinegar... turned out to be pickled onion flavour. Not a disaster but not what I wanted!

I'm vegan mostly due to allergies. Most things are lovely vegan cheese on the other hand was sent to kill us Envy(not envy!)

Reduced calorie carrot cake. Oh my christ. Even my bf who will eat anything said it was vile.

Cheese and chive pastry rolls. It was vegan cheese and some sort of claggy sauce. Unbelievably horrible.

Almost anything 'reduced calorie' is awful. Better to have a smaller portion of the full-fat version.

Accidentally bought gluten free fish fingers from Co-op. They were delicious, better than the normal ones.

I agree.

Things like sandwiches tend to no be satisfying. I'd rather have a yummy fattening sandwich than a slimmimmg one that left me thinking about food because I was still hungry
