Is it "independently from" or "to"?

I want to say that something is not being organised by my department but will be separate to it - i.e. "the drama group will be run independently from/to/of the university"

which is it?

I once used "to" in a college essay and the lecturer corrected it to "of".

I think it's "be independent of" or "be run independently from".

Independently from or independent of

It's a little clunky. I'd reword and say that the drama group will be run by an independent organisation/will not be run by the university. Or give the same of the group it will be run by - the group will be run by XXX.

Run independently of the university
