CBA dinners

Hello everyone,

What do you all cook as family dinners that everyone enjoys when you really CBA to cook (besides the obvious shove it in the oven options).

I'll start - Pasta with tomato soup as sauce and lots of cheese on top. If I'm feeling like I can slightly be arsed I'll fry some chorizo and red pepper to add and even sometimes chop some parsley on top although it's not necessary as so tasty regardless.

I'm looking for more ideas like this, as I'm pregnant and after a day of work I'm sometimes feeling too tired to bother with anything that takes more than 15 mins of effort.

A pasta sauce heated through and stirred through some pasta with cheese on top.

Baked potato with butter and cheese in it and baked beans.

Breaded fish with frozen peas and sweetcorn.

Tinned soup and garlic bread.

Cheese omelette with frozen peas and sweetcorn.

Tinned curry with rice. Add a tin of tomatoes to the curry and it goes further.

Tinned minced beef (not everyone will like this) with baked potato and frozen peas.

Tortelloni (fresh, bought from Asda cheap as chips) with garlic butter and chicken strips or bacon chopped up

Noodles/spaghetti with sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil and thin slices of carrot. Only needs one pot and takes as long as the noodles take to cook + 2 mins of stirring at the end Add frozen peas/cooked chicken/mushrooms if you cba

www.bbc.co.uk/food/collections/quick_dinners_on_toast I love these, perfect for weekend lunches too

www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/sausage-mushroom-ragu I served this with spaghetti, but could have it with microwave rice, or even just garlic bread

www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/honey-mustard-chicken-thighs-spring-veg doing this for dinner tonight

www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/puff-pastry-pizzas and this tomorrow night

Stirfry straight to wok noodles with ready julienned vegetables, soy and chilli
Quesadillas with cooked chicken and tinned corn or whatever veggies inside
Stirfry Uncle Ben's Rice with some prawns and peas tossed in
Egg bhurji ( Indian version of scrambled eggs with spices) on toast
Paneer bhurji ( same as above with paneer) on toast or with rotis
Chickpea curry with tinned chickpeas and canned tomatoes to cut down on prep

I really fucking hate cooking but I have to do it so I keep it simple on tired days.

Bellafrenum · 07/12/2021 17:47

Egg fried rice. Whisky egg and fry, chuck in pre-cooked rice and frozen peas, add the squeezy garlic and ginger you keep in the fridge and some soy sauce. Leftover meat from a roast and chopped pepper and spring onion also works mixed in if you have it.

AnnPerkins · 07/12/2021 17:48

Oven baked risotto. Fry onion etc then add rice on hob and 15 mins in oven after adding the stock it’s ready 🤷‍♀️

CrimbleCrumble1 · 07/12/2021 17:48

Ham, eggs, and then thin chips and mushrooms/peppers done in the oven so it’s in your 15 minute slot.

WineIsMyCarb · 07/12/2021 17:49

Sausage sandwich
Jacket potato with cheese and beans
Cheese on toast with spaghetti hoops on
Boiled eggs and soldiers
Selection of crackers with interesting stuff from fridge on
Tinned soup with white bread and butter
Pasta pesto
Fish finger and lettuce wrap

Bellafrenum · 07/12/2021 17:49

Those packs of fresh pasta take 2 or 3 mins to boil, mixed with pesto

Chronicallymothering · 07/12/2021 17:51

Fish fingers and rice (with soy sauce)- a hangover from student days

Mangozesty · 07/12/2021 17:59

A tube of Pringles.

CaliforniaDrumming · 07/12/2021 18:03

@Mangozesty

A tube of Pringles.
:) This act was my lunch a couple of days ago; I was so fed up with this awful weather.

Bacon stottie

Chicken and sweetcorn soup with crusty bread (Aldi's fresh soup and part bake seeded dinner rolls)

Home made steak bakes (fill a sandwich thin with tinned stewing steak then egg wash and ten mins in oven).

Charcuterie table (packets of meats and salamis, cheeses, crackers, bread, pate and salad (Rocket and cherry tomatoes) spread out on the coffee table/dining table. Help yourself!

Aldi's specially selected fresh filled pasta with their fresh pasta sauce

Scrambled eggs on toast

FissionMailed · 07/12/2021 18:09

Pot noodle.. with some bread and butter.

Beans on toast with cheese.

Cheese sandwhich and a tin of soup... Extra points if it's a toastie from a breville.

Fish finger sandwiches with Tom sauce.

Dipshit tea. (My daughter's favourite) chicken nuggets, chicken dippers, mini sausage roll binged in the oven and served up with pots of dips.

Lazy teas are the best teas, so sayeth my 8 year old. 🤣

JaninesEyePatch · 07/12/2021 18:10

It is just a stick it in the oven one I'm afraid but sometimes we have the charlie bighams chicken tikka masala. Nicer than a micro one but literally a case of just shoving in the oven.

JaninesEyePatch · 07/12/2021 18:14

Quiche, jacket potato and coleslaw or beans used to be a once a week staple when I was younger.

Sometimes I really like a grilled chicken breast(seasoned with salt and pepper), boiled carrots and boiled new potatoes with butter. So simple but really tasty and nutritious.

ImStayingInside · 07/12/2021 18:15

Potato waffles, cheese, bacon and beans (maybe a fried egg if you cba)

JaninesEyePatch · 07/12/2021 18:17

Naan pizza. Naan bread - spread with tomato purée and too with ready grated mozzarella and topping of your choice.

mrsbobbelcherakalinda · 07/12/2021 18:21

Breaded chicken,salad and wraps

WhereYouLeftIt · 07/12/2021 18:37

Every couple of months I batch-cook Delia Smith's Bolognese Ragu and freeze it into meal-for-two portions. Then all I have to do when I CBA is defrost it (microwave) and heat it through, and bung some spaghetti on.

Or boil some fusilli pasta, frozen peas in a steamer on top. Drain, add a can of tuna chunks and as much pesto as you like. I usually make twice as much of this as I need and have it cold for lunch next day too.

iklboodolphrednosedpaindear · 07/12/2021 18:41

Get a hot cooked chicken from the supermarket & some barm cakes.

Take the meat off the chicken & put it on a plate in the middle of the table with mayo, salt, some salad, nice crisps etc.

Dig in.

Camembert & crusty bread
Chicken satay skewers
Chorizo in red wine & honey (only takes about 5 mins)

Pitta breads
Iceland Tandoori chicken skewers - can be served hot or cold

Big plate of skinny fries
Plate of toast

Squirrelblanket · 07/12/2021 18:45

Chicken kiev and oven chips. Grin

northernstars · 07/12/2021 18:54

These all seemed like too much work - I've sent DH off to put a pizza in the oven.

PoleFairy · 07/12/2021 18:58

Pasta, baked beans and cheese

NotMeekNotObedient · 07/12/2021 19:19
