What's best in terms of heating?

So we live in a rented bungalow, with my toddler and 6 month old!
It's always cold in winter, am I best to have the heating on low all the time or just a hour here or there on a higher temperature?
I'm wondering what it would do in terms of how much the gas would cost and keeping the house warm! We also suffer with mould too!

What sort of heating system do you have?
Mine is on a timer an thermostat so it's on for a few hours in the am and pm at around 18/19⁰C

Is the mould due to condensation? Need air flow to rid the moisture from warm air before it settles on walls and windows. A karcher window vac is also useful. Extractors.in bathrooms and kitchens, no drying clothes in the house and regular opening of windows all helps.

As for heating, depends a lot on your house.
A well insulated house won't lose as much heat as a poorly insulated one.

Generally speaking, turn down the radiators in rooms you don't use, put draught excluders by the doors, heat on when you're home, heat off when you're out.

Google is your friend here, that'll help you find more tips and advice on insulation and heating.

I haven't put my heating on yet, heated throws, electric blankets and layers work for now.

www.moneysavingexpert.com/utilities/energy-saving-myths/ This tells you lots about it, and has lots of tips as well.

Do you wipe down your windows and windowsills in the mornings? It's a great way to reduce dampness that leads to mould. My DM uses a window vac.

Do you use mould and mildew remover? I find it the best way to treat the mould, but it does bleach things, so be careful with it.
