Is anyone a PEF (Practice Education Facilitator) in nursing and if so could you please tell me about it?

Just that really.

DD is a nurse, currently the education link nurse (?) and is thinking of applying. I thought I’d ask on here if anyone knows much about the role and whether they would recommend it.

Thanks

Watching with interest, I think it could be an interesting role. My role has a strong education component but I am responsible for other elements too and mostly with qualified registered HCPs rather than student nurses.

Depends where she wants to do.... the role will be different dependant on the trust....eg some roles will have no clinical face to face patient contact..... but some will ( in my community trust the band 7 PEFs In the children’s teams still carry a 2 day caseload ...but the PEFs in the adult teams don’t carry a caseload) ..... does she want to move over to lecturing in the future? and get a job in a uni?
I considered the role way back but decided it wasn’t for me.... i moved in a different direction ..... A Lot of the role will be admin as in finding placements for student....and training....updating Mentor ship training etc.... and trouble shooting issues between mentors and students...I if this is her interest then she should go for it....is she wanting to use this as a stepping stone for a band 8 role? If so she needs to consider whether she would be better getting a junior management role at band 7 instead of a PEF role..... at the end of the day she will know better than you about the role ( unless you are also a nurse of course)

@Kitkat151 thanks for your response that’s helpful. Can I ask what direction you went in instead?
