Anyone else get food order disappointment when they go out for a meal?

I get this all the time! I don't eat out very often so when I do it's a treat. So when I order something and it doesn't live up to expectations I have massive order regret and it stays with me for days Grin

Today I went out with a group of friends I hadn't seen for a while. Took ages to pick my meal and when it came even though it was nice, I couldn't stop wishing I'd ordered one of the other options. I'm still thinking about it now, it's like a wasted meal choice, especially as I know it will be months before I'm out again for another meal.

I'm seriously considering getting a takeaway tonight to make up for my disappointment.

I'm not usually disappointed with restaurants as I really check the menu before going- but takeaways that the DCs like - yes, usually from places like Nando's / honest burger and similar

Yeah I mainly get this with takeaways so only get chinese nowadays (same thing everytime!). Most of the time I eat out I enjoy it though.

I'm coeliac so my expectations are pretty much on the floor, I'm pleasantly surprised if I actually have a choice. I get very little enjoyment out of eating out these days

We don’t eat out much at all since Covid, but when we do, here, or abroad on holiday, I tend to be, at least, a bit disappointed. The food is often good, but rarely good enough. This is due though, to my husband being an exceptionally good cook. Me, not so much, so he does virtually all the cooking at home. He’s ruined me for other chefs 😳

I handed my food back at a restaurant this afternoon.....absolutely disgusting being an understatement 😡

I'm always disappointed with restaurant food so don't go any more. A dirty kebab OTOH hits the spot every time.
@Cheeseandlobster I don’t know. We used to go there often in ye olden days before it was a large chain (back when they only had a couple of venues). The menu hasn’t changed all that much but the price has risen and the quality overall has gone down. I was served actual raw chicken in one branch a couple of years ago (chef took the wrong tray out the oven) Envy < not envy.

It wouldn’t surprise me if aspects of the dishes are produced centrally now and just finished off in the restaurant.
Ah maybe not ping meals then if you got raw chicken. But that's pretty bad that ever happened.

We waited so long for our meals and then I was still hungry after. It did taste nice though. I had goat curry
