Lateral flows - negative - what's the point of logging the result?

Not being goady, genuine question.

Do us regularly testing Lateral Flows as required by college and loggingvresults on college form.

Apparently there's a requirement to also log results with nhs also - whether they are negative OR positive. Seriously, if they are negative, what's the point of logging that result? I don't understand why?

Never mind the faff about logging the results, even getting an LFT kit is a faff. Go on to website (I don't have a smart phone so have to go on tablet to do that), fill in a load of questions, wait for a code to be sent, take it to the pharmacy (which is located 4 miles away), and only then can you pick up the kit. Doesn't really encourage people to get them. What's wrong with going in and just picking 1 up?
Where do you live? You can just walk into the pharmacy and pick them up where I am (Scotland) although you do have to give them all your details first.

I register the negative results. I thought you had to, to be honest!

I ordered some last week to be delivered - it was pretty easy on the website and they were delivered the next day.
Cookerhood · 03/12/2021 18:06

I do because the place I visit that wants a negative result needs to see the text/email.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 03/12/2021 18:36

As others have said - you need all the results to get accurate data on the percentage of positive tests, and on the spread of the virus across the country.

TheDogsMother · 03/12/2021 18:40

I've never logged anything on the NHS app but do on the Zoe app.

nothingcanhurtmewithmyeyesshut · 03/12/2021 20:05

I used to log them but it's way too much hassle. Too many pages, takes too long and lost the id number for my employer anyway. If I could just open the app and scan the code and tick positive or negative then I'd do it but the current system is a ballache.

Thefartingsofaofdenmarkstreet · 03/12/2021 20:08

Is anyone who has to regularly LFT still logging it on the government website? I think i did it about 3 times and never bothered after that.

MrsPsmalls · 03/12/2021 20:33

Of course I log. Plus I need to show a negative email or text message each time I go in a care home. It takes 30 seconds. And yes they do scan.

Bunnycat101 · 03/12/2021 21:36

It’s too faffy tbh. If you could just scan theQR code and click negative without registering them it would be much easier. It will be a pain for stats but it is much better that people are using them and being careful (eg taking before the office or a party) even if they’re not logging the negatives.

What? Where on earth are you? The ones I ordered from the website were posted through my door the next day. Since then I've just walked in to the pharmacy and asked for some when I've been passing. Or taken some from the guy who gives them out outside Tescos on Fridays.
gamerchick · 03/12/2021 21:43

If you have an account it takes a minute to log Confused everything is remembered from the time before. It's just next, next, scan QR code, next, do you want a notification check and log result. Hardly taxing.

modgepodge · 03/12/2021 21:44

I went to collect LFT from the pharmacy today for the first time (usually get them from where I work, a school). There was a sign on the door to say you had to scan a QR code and register before you could collect. It took about 2 minutes. It was marginally less faffy than registering test results, but still seemed somewhat unnecessary.

Toddlerteaplease · 03/12/2021 21:45

We have to log for work. I've never logged on the covid app. I didn't know you were supposed to.

Echobelly · 03/12/2021 21:46

It's for monitoring purposes, same way I report to the ZOE covid app even if I'm feeling fine and it sometimes asks me to take a PCR for symptoms even though they're almost certainly not COVID as they want to monitor what symptoms are or aren't it.

Don’t understand this. So you have to show a text message which proves you told them it was negative. It could have been positive and you clicked negative. Why on earth are care homes wasting time asking to see text messages when they could just ask you?

I had to take the actual test with me when I went to a funeral held in a care home. Which I dutifully did. Yet no one asked to see if, or even if id done it!

megletthesecond · 03/12/2021 21:48

I've logged all of mine. Takes 90 seconds max.

Namechangeforthis88 · 03/12/2021 21:53

I don't have an account and it takes about a minute to log the negatives. Ordering another pack takes a moment or two, and they just turn up in the post the next day.

splodgewurzel · 19/12/2021 11:50

I know this post is a few weeks old, but thought I'd just mention that logging the lateral flows also means they show up in your covid pass on the NHS app. Could be helpful if you need a negative test to enter a venue, plus is a useful record.

vickibee · 19/12/2021 11:52

Because u need proof of negative LFT for large events, my Ds had to show his at a footie gam this weekend

ProfYaffle · 19/12/2021 11:59

We use them at work to monitor levels of staff who are testing so we have an idea of how reliable the positive rates are.

Personally, I stopped logging them because the Government website is fucking annoying. I have to log 3 lots of tests (me and dc) and every single time it hangs, times out and I have to make a second attempt. I still log the dc with their school website because that one is actually quick and easy.
