Has anyone stayed at a premier inn in Manchester?

I'm looking to go to the Palace Theatre, and wonder if anyone can recommend one of the Premier Inns in Manchester? I don't mind getting a taxi/bus to the theatre so it doesn't need to be whichever one is nearest. I just love a recommendation if anyone has one because there are quite a few Premier Inns in the area! Thanks

I’ve not stayed in them in Manchester but premier inns all tend to be pretty much the same. I think the nearest one to the Palace would be the one on Portland st

Thanks, I don't know the area at all so it is helpful to know which one is nearest! Is that fairly central for the shops as well do you know?

The nearest premier Inn is a 2 minute walk from the Palace, its a 10 minute walk into piccadilly from near the Palace but there are free shuttle buses that run every few minutes as well.

We stayed at the Manchester City Centre Piccadilly one a few years ago and were very happy with it. A short walk from the station and close to the shops etc

I stayed in this one which is only a short walk from the palace. It was fine, room was quite small from memory but I only needed a bed and shower to crash for a night. As a PP said, you really can't go wrong with a Premier Inn, they all tend to be very similar and I've stayed in a lot and never had a bad experience with them. Manchester is a pretty compact city centre.

Agree that the Portland Street one is the nearest to the Palace - a couple of mins walk away. It’s about a 10min walk down Portland St to Piccadilly Gardens/Market St where the shops are etc.

Ive only stayed in the one at Deansgate which is 10 walk from Piccadilly Gardens. It does have parking too.

Oh god Blush a friend and I went on tour with a band/ singer(American, better known in the state's but well known here for blues). We had to leave the next day when they went somewhere else as we had work, and they booked and paid for us to stay in a premier. We're from a tiny town. Hailed a cab and told the driver we were going to premier inn. Lovely man stopped the meter after taking us to three that were not the right one Blush

Yes stayed in the deansgate, it's a short walk to the tram stop, we got a good night sleep!

TidyDancer · 03/12/2021 07:17

I've stayed in the Portland Street one. It's a decent hotel but if you're a lone traveller (I was) make sure you ask them not to isolate you at the end of a corridor. I had a bizarre corner room which had a lot of space but felt like walking a marathon to get to which isn't great if you're getting back late in the evening.

Premier Inns aren’t all the same (although I know nothing of Manchester’s). But they sometimes buy other hotels and then just stick Premier Inn branding on. We stayed in a grim one not long ago that had sinks in the bedroom, with carpet, and only a tiny shower, and weird furniture.

MinnieJackson · 03/12/2021 07:27

@tidydancer yes, I think it's a policy to not automatically book lone females directly by the exit doors

Yes it is, it was quite bad really that they did it to me. I did email them about it to point it out. They ended up refunding my stay because of it. I didn't actually ask for any money back but I think they recognised the error straight away.

MinnieJackson · 03/12/2021 09:10

That's good of them to refund you, and good that you mentioned it aswell for future guests

StormyCornishSeas · 03/12/2021 10:04

We stayed at the ibis near the university

BeautifulTulips · 05/12/2021 08:10

Thanks for all the help, looking forward to exploring Manchester !

We always stay at the city centre west one on Irwell street. It's right by spinning fields so a good area to be and wouldn't be a big walk or an easy Uber to the palace.
