I feel like the worse parent ever I pulled some pjs off the sofa for my 4 month old didn't realize my phone was on top and it fell on baby on the floor.

I feel fucking awful.

As soon as it happened a bump appeared I put a cold compress on it he cried but stopped pretty quickly. He has been laughing and attempting to roll for the last hour.

I'm in two minds if I need to call 111 originally I was going to call them but he was laughing and playing.

He's just had about a 5 ounce feed and has gone to bed.

It's been about an hour since it happens.

I'll post a photo of his head. To me there's not even a bump there not just a red marks

He’s fine, he’ll let you know if he’s not.

AnyFucker · 02/12/2021 20:34

From everything you have said, he sounds fine

Get ready… the bumpy ride will escalate over the next couple of years 😊

todayisnotagoodday · 02/12/2021 20:36

Thank you.

I burst in to tears the worse thing is he's not my first but I've had a rough day with the toddler so today I'm feeling like the worse mum.

I'll keep and eye on him. Still feel terrible

I agree that he's almost certainly fine, but 'he'll let you know if he's not' is absolutely terrible advice when it comes to a head injury.

OP it sounds like he's fine from what you say, but if you want to call then do. If you suspect a head injury you want to make sure he can be roused while asleep (just gently, not enough to wake him properly).

When my LO was a baby I threw (and I mean threw) my phone at the sofa and it bounced off and landed on her head. I cried for days. She was absolutely fine and is now 2 and still absolutely fine!!

foxgoosefinch · 02/12/2021 20:48

Ah both I and my mum did this to DD on two separate occasions. I wept. She was fine 😀

Keep an eye but don’t beat yourself up! It happens.

User0ne · 02/12/2021 20:50

He sounds fine. If you phone 111 they'll tell you to go to a&e if you're concerned and you'll still have to make the decision.

If it makes you feel better I dropped ds1 on a piece of angle iron when he was 6 weeks old - landed on his head. The peadiatrcian we saw after waiting for 4 hours in a&e (by which time Ds was clearly fine) essentially told us that "children are made of rubber until they're 2yrs old, as he gets bigger and you increase in confidence you'll build in more wait and see time"

CurryandSnuggle · 02/12/2021 20:53

He'll be fine, don't panic. It does make you feel guilty but trust me, this has happened to a LOT of mums. It's happened to me before. Be kind to yourself, mistakes happen xxx

Moonbabysmum · 02/12/2021 20:59

I think it's rare if this doesn't happen at some point (and I've done it). I think so babies have experienced that or whacking their head getting the car seat in and out, and falling off a bed/sofa. Or all of these.

If he seems fine, then I wouldn't worry.

NC6789012 · 02/12/2021 21:03

Don't worry. They soon start catapulting themselves off of beds and all sorts 😉

BogRollBOGOF · 02/12/2021 21:06

I managed to drop DS1 on his head before we'd even left the hospital. I was too exhausted to get out of bed and my strength gave out while I was trying to lower him into the crib. Doesn't seem to have dented his IQ Grin

Tip for avoiding maternal guilt: never put a waterproofed toddler on a wet slide... they don't like bouncing off the bottom half-way across the playground Wink

God, your heart must have been in your mouth. Hopefully you have a screen protector?
