I don’t know if “pleased” is the word I’m looking for, but I hope those cunts suffer

Rest in peace little Arthur x

I am glad they are not allowed to walk away free. GOOD. So sad for poor Arthur.

BleuJay · 02/12/2021 16:26

A relative took a picture of severe bruising to Arthur's back on April 15 last year and phoned social services the next day… but somehow they did not see the full extent of his bruising and decided that there were no safeguarding concerns;
Arthur had been on social services' radar for three years.. at least five of Arthur's relatives and a neighbour told social services that his life was in grave danger;
Teacher said he had become more 'reserved and anxious' and 'fixated' with his father killing him;

Many people should be found guilty of not doing anything to save him and effectively enabling his death.

I know exactly what you mean. That poor little boy.

I hope those revolting bastards rot.

His biological mother was in prison for murdering her boyfriend. How on earth was this little boy so ignored by social services when he was at such extreme risk? (even without his abusive father and step mother...those reports should have exacted to absolutely critical).

gemwhitt · 02/12/2021 16:30

@BleuJay I completely agree with you. I am just beyond devastated for him that no one took
the necessary steps to get him out of there. I can't understand it. I'm heartbroken by this case. I really hope lessons are learned.

Nicknacky · 02/12/2021 16:30

Absolutely heartbreaking, especially reading that the jury requested the court did a minute silence for the wee soul.

And according to the Daily Mail he has yet to be buried due to legal disputes 😢

Malibuismysecrethome · 02/12/2021 16:39

I’m so glad that Louise Rees the Director of Children’s Services was able to retire in August and is “retired and loving it”. Shame they don’t retire and sack all her incompetent Child Protection Social Workers at the same time.

How many people reported their concerns to Social Services and the police to be ignored and fobbed off, and in the case of the Uncle threatened with arrest for breaking Covid restrictions if he went round their. I hope they can all sleep at night.

subjecttoavailability · 02/12/2021 16:41

I've been following this trial, I was hoping the poor boy would get some justice. I was so angry with this couple, blaming each other, hundreds of excuses. And they seemed to have a nice life for themselves, going to hairdressers/shops/watching TV, but now they are complaining it was so bad for them they couldn't copeAngry.

Naughtynovembertree · 02/12/2021 16:43

People risk everything to make reports and this is what they get from the police /as a feeble look at his back, a chat to Arthur when tustin son was present??

Yep. Just not good enough. It will never be enough.
Franklin12 · 02/12/2021 16:48

A friend of mine adopted two children a number of years ago. They are men now but she told me that the social workers have strong links with the birth mothers and give them every chance to show a little change so that they can be left with them. Ignore the state of the house, the latest boyfriend, the reports from neighbours etc.

They will literally give them opportunity after opportunity. The SW for the adopter is less engaged and were constantly reminding them the birth mother has all the rights and that the system will 'support' and help them to keep their children.

Sometimes those chances just run out and this happens. That poor poor boy.

What actually happens to people like this is prison though. I know we hear that other prisoners have their own justice but is that really the case or just a rumour.

Malibuismysecrethome · 02/12/2021 16:57

Franklin12 I would like to think they would receive justice from other prisoners but probably the reality will be that they will both be heavily protected by the prison authorities.

Whenigrowupiwanttobea · 02/12/2021 17:27

It sickens me! We are always being told not to be afraid to speak up if we think or know a child is being abused. We are always being told that there must never be another baby P and then this poor little darling proves that speaking out does no good. If they had listened to his grandma and let her take care of him he would be alive today and no doubt being loved and adored! I think there should have been more people in the Dock for this trial. Just waiting for the apologies and "lessons will be learned" platitudes!!!

Totally agree, he was failed by so many people.
croydon15 · 02/12/2021 18:36

So glad that justice has been done,it won't bring Arthur back but these 2 evil people can rot in jail for ever. How can you treat a little child like that it is heartbreaking to hear and see him in his last few days, dragging him by the scruff of the neck, throwing him the car by the father who was supposed to love him,
Hope they both get what they deserve in jail.

Babyroobs · 02/12/2021 19:15

I hope she gets a whole life sentence and is never released. Also hope there are serious investigations into the authorities who were meant to be looking out for him.
There is yet another similar case in the paper this evening, when is it ever going to stop?

WhatsitWiggle · 02/12/2021 19:57

I'm so sad for this little boy. The person who should look out for you most turned on him. I just don't understand why the Dad didn't let him go and live with his grandmother if he was such a burden.

I'm relieved she has been found guilty of murder, well done to the jury, it must have been harrowing to sit through for the last few weeks.

EYProvider · 02/12/2021 20:29

Yet another case that didn’t ‘meet the threshold’. Like anything ever does.

Frozentoes2 · 02/12/2021 23:13

RIP little angel. You deserved so much better. I don’t understand how anyone could have been so cruel let alone your own father.

Malibuismysecrethome · 03/12/2021 04:56

No one who knew Arthur comes out of this well. They did not do enough, end of. Including Arthur’s grandmother and family.

Natnat1979 · 06/12/2021 21:16

Truly heartbroken, Arthur was a beautiful gentle little boy. He was so happy before all of this happened to him. 😭😭

FallingStar21 · 07/12/2021 11:11

@Malibuismysecrethome

I'm feeling torn about his family too, so many questions there.
Were there any signs of abuse (by Hughes) whilst he and Arthur were living with grandma? I'd be very surprised if he was even a remotely decent dad, who snap-changed into a monster the moment he met Tustin.
Grandma and uncle absolutely did the right thing with the report and police, but this was in April. They were obviously very concerned, so you would think would have tried to make phone calls to speak with Arthur or somehow orchestrate a meeting. If this was impossible due to Hughes not allowing and/or lockdown, I'd have been even more worried with weeks of no contact and tried to push all doors possible, even making multiple calls to all services and organizations available.

Also don't understand how a teacher can say Arthur was "fixated on dad killing him" and also do nothing. Teacher should have probed further questions with Arthur, taken him to a safeguarding team, arranging something. Instead they happily let him go with Hughes/Tustin at the end of every school day, knowing what he had said - and fixated means he expressed it multiple times!
No words to address the blatant uninvolvment of social workers and the hairdresser.

You are right, every single adult!!! 😥😥😥
