What’s your top cleaning product or tip?

I love having a clean, tidy house. It makes me feel calm and happy even though I know that’s quite superficial. I am currently having a really good clean before Christmas and would love to know if you have discovered any great cleaning products or have any advice for cleaning your home and keeping on top of things.

Get yourself sterilised when you are 18.

Stay off social media.
If you can't see other people's houses you'll have no idea whether yours is 'clean enough'.

Lidl limescale remover
Dr Beckham carpet cleaner is amazing
Oven Pride Oven cleaner
Biological washing powder in the bath (small amount with hot water)

My tip is to just keep going Grin
I clean every day and try and get one bigger job done each day (eg. Shine mirrors or whatever)

Watching with interest! Discovered white vinegar in loo overnight, amazing!

Use a toothbrush for around taps, the knobs of the cooker etc. Handy for those little areas that get grimy but cloths/sponges often don't get 100% clean.

Obvs I buy a toothbrush for this sole purpose that stays in the cleaning cupboard. But if someone in the house is being a PITA, theirs will do Grin

Also, soap pads work wonders on the glass shower screen!

Hg mould remover is amazing stuff!!
Our shower room has they vile white tiles which always look dirty and this makes them all lovely again. It’s fab stuff!

A tub of pink stuff also handy for making things gleam again -l

My dad. I've been ill for a while. He came round today to keep me company and spent most of the time here cleaning and riding while I napped! He then brought me snacks. I feel like a winner. Although would rather be well and able to do it myself in which case my tip would be to do little and often. If you keep in top of it, especially keeping tidy then it all feels easier.

Not eco friendly but a good squirt of bleach under the toilet rim last thing at night without flushing it eradicates the need for a toilet brush. I do the same with the kitchen sink. My house is a tip but the toilet and kitchen sink are immaculate.

JuneOsborne · 02/12/2021 16:09

Pink paste cleans everything.

Jif with bleach. But it's hard to get.

NotMyCat · 02/12/2021 16:11

Let products work. Apply it, follow the instructions, drink a brew or something
Doesn't do much good with most stuff to rinse it straight away

Every hour spent sorting out storage and decluttering will pay for itself many times over. Seriously, if everything has a place it’s lot easier and faster to put everything back in its place.

DustyMaiden · 02/12/2021 23:17

@mynameismaybe
Are you serious?

Davros · 02/12/2021 23:33

Magic eraser
Swiffer, dry and wet
Robot hoover
Heated airer but I like the flat one with wings £29 on Amazon

CelloYouveGotABass · 03/12/2021 00:05

Washing up liquid can replace most cleaners- never underestimate it!

And wipe the oven after each use.

Be rich- have a live in housekeeper. Grin

Elbow Grease spray. Marvellous stuff. Spray on and literally watch the muck dissolve

Givemebackmyhulahoop · 03/12/2021 00:51

If you have a bathroom prone to mould on the ceiling, spray mould remover on a telescopic window cleaning sponge and wipe across the ceiling.

We have high ceilings and this has been much easier than trying to use a ladder in the bathroom to reach with a spray or cloth. We open the window and keep the extractor fan on when having showers but it was still starting to build up.

I love pink stuff paste too, I've used it on the oven, badly stained mugs, bottom of stainless steel pans, ceramic hob and our ceramic sink.

Definitely this.

I use Method bathroom cleaner and found it works best when I spray everything, leave as long as possible (a few hours sometimes), then wipe and rinse off. Seems to work well for limescale on the taps.

Keladrythesaviour · 05/12/2021 08:40

Definitely the robot hoover. We have ours do an hour's run a day downstairs (wooden floors). Too it for granted, then have had it switched off for a few weeks whilst we had some work done and goodness me the mess and dog hair that has built up is hideous. It took me a week or so to realise I needed to physically hoover again Sad so I can't wait to switch him back on.
My fail safe is always vinegar. Sorts everything out. That and soda crystals.

Yes, it is amazing! Can be hard to track down though. Wilco sometimes has it and Poundland. Grab it when you can. Very cheap too.
Jenster03 · 05/12/2021 08:58

Viakal for limescale. You have to spray and leave it for at least 5 mins though.
