Question about staying in a hotel

ItsDisneyBitch · 30/11/2021 21:58

I’m staying away in a hotel with my child at the weekend for a Christmas treat we are seeing a show.

Now other child wants to join. The room has two double beds. Do I need to tell the hotel that I have two dc when I’ve only paid for me and one. I don’t want to pay out again when they are sharing a bed!

I say children they are teenagers. Thanks !

Nah, I wouldn't.

sunlovingcriminal · 30/11/2021 21:59

I think the hotel is meant to know for fire purposes who's in the room. They may not charge you for another person!

JayAlfredPrufrock · 30/11/2021 21:59

Don’t you pay for the room?

Are you getting breakfast? They might question three of you going down for it but if you’re not then you’re paying for the room and I probably wouldn’t tell them.

womaninatightspot · 30/11/2021 22:02

They will notice when you bring an additional child down to breakfast? Unless it's room only I'd let them know.

Allsorts1 · 30/11/2021 22:02

I wouldn’t think so! I’d just take them - maybe get them to have a coffee while you’re checking in if you’re concerned? More chance of not paying if you don’t say anything and if on the odd chance they cared then you can just apologise then! No harm done.

ItsDisneyBitch · 30/11/2021 22:03

I think breakfast is included but I don’t mind getting room service to save me the cash on the upgrade. It’s an expensive hotel that I got via points but to add another person I think would cost.

I keep asking her but do you really want to come? But it seems she does. 🤣

Yes because of health and safety should there be a fire. If there was they wouldn't look for your daughter because they wouldn't know she was there. I know the chances are slim but it's always a risk.

Dh and I recently booked a village hotel double room, and at last minute we acquired our 3 granddaughters (age3, 6, 7), hotel kindly got us a family room with 2 little beds and we made a third bed out of duvets, which hotel was quite happy with. They didn't seem to mind our 3 additions and didn't charge any extra. That was our experience, and we all had breakfast at no extra cost. Hopefully you should be OK.

Seriously? I thought you were joking for a minute! 😂😂

This is not how it works.

When the fire alarm sounds, staff don't go wandering around the buildings, looking for guests who may have popped to the shops/pub/McDonald's or anywhere else.

That is the job of the fire brigade and I'm quite sure the OP would be able to tell them their extra DC hasn't come out of the burning building.

I can think of a billion other things that are also always a risk.

I think id take that risk of the whole hotel burning down.

WorraLiberty · 30/11/2021 22:12

It's not even a risk though @Peanutmnm

People pop in and out of hotels all the time, so the staff will have no idea who's in and who's out anyway.

Wizzbangfizz · 30/11/2021 22:14

I wouldn't

You pay for the hotel room, not the amount of bodies in it. (Bodies as in alive and not burnt in a fire...).

I recently booked a double room but there was only me. I took a guest up to the room for drinks (family member before anyone asks) and reception did not bat an eyelid.

All these mythical hotel staff who go running around burning buildings, checking everyone's managed to escape, are a bit like the legendary MN chicken 😬
