Hi all
I have just found out I am expecting and have been advised by my GP to do a self referral. St George's Hospital in Tooting is the closest hospital. Does anyone have any recent experiences re the nurses, doctors, facilities and services etc? Do you recommend giving birth in this hospital? The other options are St Thomas' Hospital (Westminister) and Chelsea & Westminister Hospital but they are a little further away. Would really appreciate some feedback.
Thanks

I'd chose Chelsea west over st George's any day.

Thanks for your response! Is there any particular reason why? Should i opt for something closer i.e. 15mins away, rather than opting for CW which is 40mins away!

Congratulations!

I had a baby at St George’s in Jan 2020, I my experience I’d go for proximity just for ease of getting to appointments etc. It did feel like I spent a lot of time waiting around for appointments, the community midwifes seemed to be based in various places around Tooting and were fine but almost impossible to get hold of to change appointments etc.

I had various issues so spent a lot of time in and out of the hospital later in my pregnancy and they were excellent for reduced movements etc, delayed an emergency scan until my husband could get there - very caring group of people.

Actual maternity unit is tired but functional.
