Nicest luxury chocolates for Christmas treats?

What chocolate will you be treating yourself and others to for Christmas, if it's your thing?

I need to expand my chocolatey horizons and not sure what direction to go! I do like Lindt, Godiva and an Irish chocolate you can get in Lidl or Aldi (can't remember which) there that looks a bit like the Lily O'Brien's packaging.

Charbonnel et Walker always feels like a treat - I’m hoping for some pink champagne truffles or maybe the pistachio ones

I am going mad and ordering some Truffles from Paul A Young. I've ordered from Chocolate Emporium for the teenagers :)

100% it will be Paul a Young

The Guardian’s regular column ‘Notes on Chocolate’ by Annalisa Barbieri might help…

ruthieness · 29/11/2021 22:04

I really want a big box of chocolates with a picture of kittens on the top or with a satin padded lid! or maybe a picture of swiss alps?

ODFOgrinch · 29/11/2021 22:06

I prefer luxurious versions of most things in life, but, in spite of trying very many of the best artisan/luxury chocolate brands, at Christmas nothing beats a small box of Toffifee. Except perhaps a large box.
We have hazelnut trees in our garden and DS has a toasting week each year where he makes all kinds of treats that we pass to friends and neighbours. We make a toffifee dupe which has better quality chocolate and buttery toffee but it just isn't as good even though on paper it should be better.

William Curley: Champagne Truffles, Confit Lemon & Sesame and a Chocolate Caramel Mou Bar 😋

Harry Specter. Amazing chocolates (and I'm a gigantic chocolate snob) and a good cause, employing young autistic people.

Highland Chocolatiers for Christmas Day, Lindt truffles for general grazing around Christmas time.

Audreys. Their coffee creams are to die for

Neuhaus, found at St Pancras station and online. Not cheap though.

Zotters

Iain Burnett. Based in Scotland. Genuinely horrifically expensive but for proper xmas treat, worth it.

Cam2020 · 30/11/2021 17:56

Salted caramels at Paul A Young are a family favourite!

But they are more expensive than gold so beware...

Thelikelylass · 30/11/2021 19:25

I find ganache and salted caramel to be a bit abundant on most menus but Paul A Young knocked my socks off when I was given a box. I was gutted to see the soho shop is now closed but they still do online. Best chocolates I've ever had and that's a long vic career behind me Smile
