Got tickets for a gig - would you go?

I've got tickets for a gig in a couple of weeks time. With the crackdown in covid measures and whispers of a lockdown, thinking about whether to try and sell my tickets or still plan to go and then be prepared to lose the money if there is a lockdown? What would you do?

I've waited 2 years for this gig- it's not a theatre show or something that can be rebooked but very nervous of covid!

We did the two night New Model Army gigs in Nottingham last weekend. It was so so good to see some live music - the band were 56 weeks late on stage Grin A few people were masked and we kept out of the usual melee down the front. Beginning to think we were lucky they went ahead given the way things are going.

@RemorselessNorsemen

Absolutely I would. I'm going to see Ash next week and looking forward to it.
I didn't know they were still knocking around, I used to LOVE Ash!

I saw The Offspring last Friday. It was excellent but there was bugger all in terms of social distancing or mask wearing, so if it's going to bother you I think that you have done the right thing in putting your tickets up for resale.

HelplessProcrastinator · 01/12/2021 12:30

I saw The Levellers last week and only spotted one mask in the whole crowd. It was bloody brilliant and they were as good as they were 30 years ago, really on top form.

I had CoViD in September and it took me two months to recover but from a selfish point of view I was utterly delighted to be leaping around at a gig without a mask on. I know other people will do worse than two months of post viral fatigue but for that many of us that want to it is great to be back to relative normality. People who feel unsafe need to do their own risk assessment and no judgment to those who would rather ‘stay safe’.

Ash! They are bloody brilliant live. Have fun 🤩
They are! And yes @LBOCS2 still going. Been a while since I've seen them, I think it was supporting The Darkness many years ago, but my memories of them were they were outstanding live.

I saw The Offspring at a festival a few years ago and they didn't do it for me, gutted as I'd really looked forward to it. The crowd were flat which didn't help. I assumed it was the festival environment and they would be better in a venue.

Everything is calculated risk at present isn't it? Our DC's are grown up so only DH and I to take the consequences and we are both double (and triple) jabbed.

I've got tickets for a gig next week, there is no way I am going! Trying to resell the tickets but even if I lose the money I don't care.

Buzzinwithbez · 01/12/2021 12:35

You're going to get a combination of answers based on people's own risk factors and how they feel about covid.
I've been to some massive gigs this year. The first one, I was a bit anxious but then fine after that.
I have 3 coming up in December that I'm very much looking forward to.

Case numbers for England are pretty much static at the moment.. And hospitalisations are down 26 percent on 4 weeks ago.

gabsdot45 · 02/12/2021 12:06

I went to see Gary Barlow on Sunday Amazing, thanks for asking)
Vaccine passes and photo Id were checked on entry, I wore a face mask for the entire thing. It was all seated. I realised that if anyone near me had Covid there was a strong chance I'd get it but I was willing to take the chance.

Herecomesthesun70 · 02/12/2021 20:49

Who were you going to see
I e got one in 2 weeks in Bristol so travelling from south wales to get there if it's still on

Libertaire · 02/12/2021 20:59

No, I wouldn’t go.

I have been to restaurants & pubs, on the tube, to the cinema, theatre and to sold-out football & cricket matches since my second jab but a packed, unventilated standing room only indoor gig would be a step too far for me.

Lovesabadboy · 02/12/2021 23:22

@WheelieBinPrincess

Absolutely, I’ve got my fingers firmly crossed that I can go to the Libertines next month.

Been way too long since I saw some live music.

@WheelieBinPrincess Where are you due to see the Libs? We are going to see them in Cardiff a week today!

I am slightly apprehensive, I must say, but I will have had my booster by then (although I think it takes a while to kick in, I believe).
We went to see Nothing But Thieves back at the end of October, so this isn't my first gig, but I do know, from experience, what a Libs crowd can be like, so I might position myself at the back!!

WheelieBinPrincess · 02/12/2021 23:27

@Lovesabadboy Kentish Town Forum, great venue and I’m so looking forward to it!

Yes the crowd can get a bit fruity 😂 but it’s my 7th time seeing them and it’s all part of the fun.

I missed NBT as my baby was too little for me to go, but I’m really looking forward to this one. Fingers crossed.

Lovesabadboy · 02/12/2021 23:47

@WheelieBinPrincess
Ah - the day after me. Yeah - I really like that venue. In fact, I saw Example there as my last gig in March 2020 just before the first lockdown!

I am up to the 17th time of seeing PD in any of his incarnations, but this is the longest break since I last saw him/them.

You definitely need to see NBT now your baby is a bit older - they are bloody amazing!

Have a great time next week - everything crossed!!

WheelieBinPrincess · 03/12/2021 07:44

Ah Example puts on a good show @Lovesabadboy!

Indeed, everything crossed. Hope you have a blast and the Libs are on form!
