Several times growing up on a rural farm. My dad had to dig his way out to take the milk to town to meet the lorries.

The electricity went so mum put all the freezer stuff outside in the snowdrift to keep it cold.
They got a generator after that winter.
The cupboards were always well stocked with tins every winter.
As kids we spent our days defrosting water pipes to get water to the cows.
We got snowed in here when DD was little, it was 2009? Or 2010? The freeze didn’t let up for weeks so the snow was on the ground for a month
