Any dentists about? Crown fallen out

I know there are a few lovely dentists about on here and I was hoping one may help me out.
Basically my crown has fallen out. I have it and it looks ok. I’ve tried slotting it back in and it actually feels pretty good. I obviously requires a trip to the dentist but I’m away at a funeral until Weds night. If possible I would prefer to temporarily fix the crown back in myself, because I’m quite self conscious without it. Is this ok? I don’t want to damage the crown, it cost me an arm and a leg. If so what should I use? Google gives me thousands of options! Help please!!!

Hi, not a dentist but this happened to me in lockdown and the only thing that kept it safely in place was Fixodent.
Sorry you've got this hassle x

Not a dentist. This has happened to me. I very gently cleaned the crown and my tooth then applied fixodent. It held until the next time I had something to eat and drink. If it was me I would ring the Dentist in the morning and get an appointment for ASAP after Weds then manage with the fixodent until then. I wouldn't try to keep the crown in all the time only when necessary because I would be worried about damaging it or damaging the rest of the remaining tooth.

Hi, you can get temporary dental materials quite often from a chemist like boots that can help as a temporary cement so long as you only use a bit and then try to remove any excess around with floss etc but be careful to try to only use a thin layer as if you use loads it may not seat down fully and then make the tooth uncomfortable or crack the porcelain.

I am a dentist and was going to say fixodent ( or any other denture adhesive) it’s annoying in you have to keep putting it on but it will mean you can get it out again before going to sleep. The temp kits are more suited to lost fillings or cavities because they tend to be really thick in consistency so hard to re-cement a crown with where as the denture glue kind of flows round between the tooth and crown.

Hope you get sorted!
