How long is the wait for MRI results?

Just that really. Also, is there any sort of triage system whereby the scans are looked at quickly to check for anything really scary and then dealt with more quickly or are they all in a queue and worked through in the order they were done? Any insights gratefully received.

Thanks for the reassurances. I thinking I’ll ring today, if only because it’s the first thing DS asks me when he gets in from school.

Wishing you all the best Flowers.

Hopefully the lack of news is good news. I had some bloods on the NHS and was called for an urgent scan about 3 days later. Then I heard nothing for a couple of weeks at least (maybe a month) and it was all ok. It seems that the NHS moves quickly when something is badly wrong and slowly when it isn’t urgent.

The consultant has just called me back, MRI was clear thankfully but she needs to talk to her neuro colleagues about him and will get back to me. Good news, I think???

That sounds like good news, MRIs are very thorough and good they are still trying to help make him better.

DH recently had a stroke, so had three CT scans. He also has cancer and I was concerned that the stroke wasn't stroke but a spread of the cancer. The doctor I spoke to said the CT showed no signs of anything other than a stroke but given his history (onset of memory loss and becoming more agitated in the weeks leading up to the stroke) that they would do an MRI to be sure. I think a clear MRI is a good thing Flowers

I’m so sorry to hear what you and your DH are having to endure @bloodywhitecat, it sounds like a stressful and upsetting time.
I’ve slept on it now and am very much taking the mri results as a positive. It was brilliant to be able to tell DS last night and I could see him visibly relax in front of me bless him. Back to the drawing board now to try to establish what it is…
Thanks to you all for your continued kindness and support 💐

My 90 year old mother had a 6 week wait recently. They were looking for possible bowel cancer (it was all clear) but the wait seemed excessive to me.
