Have you followed the setup instructions. It needs to be plugged in, switched on and connected to wifi so it can access the internet.

I’ve had an alexa for years, I agree she’s a moody cow.

So is Siri of I accidentally call her alexa 😁

That sounds like the google nest rather than the Alexa. We have both take a photo of it so we can gauge it and help.

Do you have a subscription to Spotify or Amazon music?

Have you downloaded the app and connected it to your WiFi?

Well hang on - that's your problem!

Where are you expecting her to play music from if you don't have any and haven't synced any music accounts? She's not magic.

@ssd As a pp said, you have to subscribe to Amazon tunes. I think it's £3.99 a month. You then get access to more than 50 million songs though. I have it. Soooo worth it. You can ask it to play whatever radio station you fancy too.

I enjoy Smooth, Magic, Kerrang, Radio 2, Greatest Hits Radio, Classic, but also, you can ask it to play a Christmas station too. You can also get a white noise list too, in case your neighbour is being a bit noisy or shouty, or their dog is yapping!

Try saying ALEXA, TRY AMAZON MUSIC LIMITED, and it should give you the option to subscribe.

Does it have a circle light that goes round and round the outside of it or dots on top?

I call my Echo "Echo", not Alexa. Is it set up to answer to Alexa?

Doesn't have to be Amazon tunes. You just have to have some kind of music service eg Amazon prime, Spotify etc

You can also play bbc radio stations and local radio without any subscription.

I’m not sure about needing Spotify or similar because I had Spotify already
