Condensation and mould

I am forever clearing condensation from my double glazed windows and now the heating is on, I'm finding mould is forming around the window and on the wall! There is also condensation between the glass.

Why is this happening? Is there anything I can do bar replacing the double glazing? I have one of those karcher window vacuums that I use each morning and a dehumidifier I wheel about the house - but the mould keeps coming back Confused

I'd be wondering why there is so much moisture in the air in your house to condense onto the windows. The usual suspects are washing being dried indoors, and pans being boiled without lids on or a proper extractor in the kitchen. The quick solution is to to buy a dehumidifier and leave it running.

Open the Windows to ventilate the rooms. You need to have air circulation to stop mould.

Without good air flow in your home, that excess moisture may appear on your walls, windows and floors. To increase circulation, open doors between rooms, move furniture away from walls, and open doors to closets that may be colder than the rooms they're in. Let fresh air in to reduce moisture and keep mould at bay

If you have condensation between the panes the double glazing has failed somewhere.

We recently (couple of weeks so can't comment on long term) put some insulating film on our windows, the difference is huge! It hasn't completely stopped condensation but there's far less than we'd usually get. Out of curiosity, are you the end house on the street? We are, and both the other families we know who live on a corner have this problem too!

If it’s between the glass the windows are not sealed properly, but that not make it more damp inside. I have metal window frames which you can cook egg on in summer but pour the whole lengths of water in winter. I have dehumidifier on all day and Even had desk top one last night between the curtains and still soaking wet. Think when there is so much difference in outdoor/indoor temp there is limit on how much you can do.

Wiping wall with anti bac and making sure the edges next to frames are dry first thing in the morning helps.

I think the mold must have gone to my head with that spelling Blush
