Local authority and NHS Admin Jobs

Hi
for context I have nearly 30 years experience in the legal industry in legal secretary type roles. I say type as this role has changed massively in the last few years with advancing technology. (I don't do any typing now which used to be a major feature of the role)
I would like a change and have been looking at NHS and LA jobs as I have transferable skills.
However I note pre-requisites are English and Maths at Grade C. Would the years of job experience albeit in another sector cancel out this requirement or would it still be mandatory?
I failed Maths at GCSE (U grade) and think its possible I have dyscalculia (undiagnosed) and for English dual award have a C and D so I suppose a half pass
Wondering how much of a barrier this will be. I have a degree, 5 GCSEs in total, secretarial qualifications and 3 A levels so my basic education is not totally hopeless!
Also for these roles, can you give me an idea of the level of questions asked in a numeracy test?
thank you.

You wouldn't get to interview where I work as you wouldn't meet the essential criteria.

However, if you have anything such as a key skills qualification at level 2 those would be counted as equivalent.

The box ticking nature of a lot of applications now make this trickier I think as there's less leeway for looking at individual circumstances than there used to be!

I've been on the panel for lots of interviews for admin posts and another related post which is a grade higher (all for a dept with a LA) and they all have that on there as a standard. We always ask, most who have interviewed got that far because of the experience, quality of application etc rather than their GCSE results.

One lad I interviewed a few years ago had no GCSE's. He was honest about it and at the end of the interview he told us he'd never taken school seriously and made a right pigs ear of his exams and was looking to retake them in the future. But his experience and interview were amazing, his references were brilliant too. So we went with him anyway. Glad we did, he was great. Re did the exams and moved on from our dept after about 3 years for something IT based.

You won't know until you try.

hi thanks for your replies. Am a bit worried even if get to interview the numeracy test will be a definite barrier! Would it just be adding, subtraction and multiplication or more complicated? thank you
