Was my old history teacher a walking safeguarding issue

It’s been 2 years since I left high school so I was wondering if anyone could chip in with their opinions. Let’s call him Mr B, from the get go I never liked him… he always just gave me a bad vibe (I have experienced a lot of bad things in my short life but damn I have felt the most uncomfortable and unsafe in his class). He would go on about sex for inappropriate lengths of time, for example he would talk about the Japanese women who were tortured and raped during WW2, (keep in mind we never learnt about Japan in our qualification Hmm). It just seemed he enjoyed yapping on about it. Another example is that he’d go on about syphilis to the point that me and my friend would joke about how he was a fetish about it (to make it worse we were the only girls in our class). I won’t go on about what other things he said cos I’d be here all evening. I wanted to tell the HOY about it but he was very popular in my school and I didn’t want the fuss. No I don’t need therapy, I just remembered this and wanted to get MN verdict

@MrsSkylerWhiite

Let's all tell the OP stories of our time at high school where our male teachers behaved inappropriately towards us.

Maybe we could add photos.

I wondered about this, too.
lljkk · 27/11/2021 08:59

My 20yr old DD would be horrified with herself if she started reading & posting on MN.

lljkk · 27/11/2021 09:00

Come on OP, tell us the school. Tell us the county at least. Or country?
I want to hear so much MORE about your story.

before MN delete thread anyway

VainAbigail · 27/11/2021 09:02

OP said she left school 2 years ago, assuming she's in England that makes her around 20yo

Kids leave school at 16 in England, so if the op were real, they’d be 18.

BellaElla99 · 27/11/2021 09:13

I had my first child at 15 and used another parenting forum for advice as I was terrified and started browsing on here a couple of years later when I had my second so not unreasonable for op’s age.

I had two strange teachers in my school. One I had a massive crush on so loved when he used to select me to come and sit by his desk (he would ask a different girl each class to do their work by him). I look back and see how strange it was and how some of the conversations we had were weird. The other teacher used to make inappropriate jokes but we all found him hilarious but now looking back I can see the countless innuendos and it makes me cringe.

Yummypumpkin · 27/11/2021 09:20

Youre an adult now. If you think there is a safeguarding concern for children report it to the school. By the way you'll need much more than the vague comments in your post.

If you don't feel you have evidence or adequate concerns, shut up.

You're making entertainment out of people's lives in an immature and attention seeking manner.

SexyNeckbeard · 27/11/2021 09:24

It doesn't really sound like he did anything wrong to me. If you're that worried about it then talk to the school.

PomegranateSeed · 27/11/2021 09:35

Was he always talking about sex or rape? Not the same is it.

BorsetshireBanality · 27/11/2021 09:44

What is it with some male teachers?

I know of two male language teachers who talked about their trips to the brothels of Hamburg’s Reeperbahn in class. Totally inappropriate.

But the op isn’t here to get parenting advice, they’re here to talk about a pretend History teacher….

MerryMarigold · 27/11/2021 11:57

I think maybe he talked about sexual stuff as he thought they were topics which interested your age group and made history more accessible. I hope we're talking A levels not GCSEs though! Why were there only 2 girls in the class?

MerryMarigold · 27/11/2021 11:58

They leave at 16 or 18. Many schools offer A levels!
BellaElla99 · 27/11/2021 12:03

Someone asked why someone her age was even on the forum which is why I pointed out that op hasn’t stated whether she has kids or not. There are also plenty of users who don’t have children and just like to browse and converse with others.

As I said in my response, I have also looked back on things that happened when I was in school now I’m older and thought hmm that’s a bit strange so I don’t get why everyone is implying that op is a troll.

Maireas · 27/11/2021 13:02

This was only 2 years ago? How on earth did he have time to teach material not on the specification? I'm always pushed to complete the content.
What were the results like for his group? They would have been measured against other groups plus other subjects.

VainAbigail · 27/11/2021 14:20

@Rivermonsters

Op said high school which is 16. Didn’t say 6th form or college.

Clawdy · 27/11/2021 23:07

Only two girls in the class? Not sure I believe any of this.

BobbieT1999 · 28/11/2021 00:16

@VainAbigail lots of high schools include 6th forms and 'high school' is often used to include 6th form too.

Also where did she say there were only 2 girls in class? Aren't people getting a big carried away in thinking this is fake.

So far her posts sound like exactly the sort of thing teenage girls might have said!

TubbyCustards · 28/11/2021 00:34

@BobbieT1999 right there in the opening post ...

BobbieT1999 · 28/11/2021 00:36

🤦‍♀️

My DC school is called 'blah blah High School'. They have a 6th form too, as part of the school. I can imagine if they left after 6th form they'd still say they'd left school or high school as they have been there since Y7 so don't think of the 16-18 as a separate educational establishment.

VainAbigail · 29/11/2021 13:16

@BobbieT1999

Op says they were the only girls in the class but doesn’t say how many boys there were.

x2boys · 29/11/2021 13:32
