I'm so worried about this mole

I've had it I don't know how long, but definitely years. It's always been raised and dark brown - quite unsightly really. It's on my chest. Anyway, I knocked it about a week ago and it hurt a bit and now I can't get it out of my mind. I have had one on my shoulder blade for years as well but when I checked this morning there were two on my shoulder blade.

I'm booked in at the GP (well, phone call) next week but am so anxious. They asked for a photo and zooming in on that has made it look so much worse than I thought it was. Looking at the ABCDE thing I think it would fail on A, C a bit as it seem to have flecks of black when I zoom in, and maybe E, but I'm not sure at all that it has changed - never zoomed in on it before. I've had pain in my armpits and general chest area since the summer - not severe but frequent niggles. Had breasts checked and nothing but now I'm adding the two and going into panic mode.

Don't know why I'm posting as it obviously needs checking but any advice or stories would be good!

No advice but I have a referral to get a mole checked out too... Trying to put it to the back of my mind! Hopefully for you it will just be the case of getting it removed x

Does it have any hair growing out of it? Not a hard and fast rule but I’m pretty sure if it has hair it’s a good sign. My dad had skin cancer (and he’s absolutely fine!) and I’m sure that’s what I was told but I was younger.

I had similar recently and I know it’s such a worry. Mine scored high on the test as it was irregular shape, was itchy, colour had changed etc.

Once I sent a pic into the GP I was sent to the hospital the next day. Dermatology had it off within a few days and it was sent off to be tested, everything was super smooth and efficient until the testing part. Was marked as urgent 4 weeks but took 12 in total to get my results back. Thankfully it was fine but it was a long and worrying wait. I was absolutely convinced there was something seriously wrong which I think is a fairly normal reaction to something like that. I hope you get seen quickly and they can offer you some reassurance, it’s always such a horrible position to be in just waiting and worrying.

I wouldn’t worry too much - get the Dr to check it and in the U.K. can you just get them removed easily? I’m in Aus and nearly everyone I know has had a mole off at some point, and every one bar one has been benign and even the cancerous one was just removed and no other treatment was needed.
Here we normally get a full skin check once a year though and they whip off anything even slightly dodgy. I had mine last week and they want me back in a couple of weeks as she thinks I may have a benign one but I think it’s just a spot, but she wants me back anyway.

Thank you for responses - hope yours is a straightforward one too, MsChatterbox

That wait time is awful, Twillseeker- that must have felt a long 12 weeks. Sounds like I need to try and put it to the back of my mind if there's likely to be a long wait once I've seen GP. I think I'm imagining all sorts of itches and sensations on mine, but not sure that they are on it or even real. I think I also have the added risk of being blonde and pale and the area has been sunburnt as though I avoid the sun and never lie in it, my neck has caught me unawares several times over the years when out and about. Really wish I'd been more careful Sad.

My DH was worrying about a mole. He saw the GP who made him a two week cancer referral. His appointment is for March. He decided he couldn’t wait that long, so he made a private appointment, which was arranged for the next day. It cost £150. He has some cancerous cells, which can easily be treated. That was £150 well spent.

Hiya, I had noticed I had a mole.it was different colours and very raised, it started to itch and was sore when getting bumped.started to really stress and eventually had to send a pic to the doctors who then referred me to hospital the next day to have a picture of it taken..the day of appointment came at the hospital I was so scared and prepared as had a bad feeling..literally was in the with the doctor not even a minute..it turned out it was some kind of wart and she freezed it off..fingers crossed it’s something like that x
