Does anyone else have a baby tooth as an adult?

My lateral incisor never came through and the baby tooth is still hanging on in there (early 30s). I had a check up today and the dentist said it's looking good but we might need to have a chat about other options in years to come Shock

Will I need a denture? I really don't want that Shock

I had mine til my late 50's then it got wobbly and dentist pulled it out quite easily and then had an implant.

I still have a baby canine. Sadly not the German shepherd kind that I would like.

Though my little brother when he was here tying his teeth come through seemed to get 2 adult teeth, he ended up having 12 adult teeth taken out because he had way too many.

I have a baby molar and I'm 46.

Every time I go to the dentist she says "oh, you've still got your baby tooth, it's hanging in there! The root looks good but you might lose it at some point". Reading PPs posts, this seems to be a common thing for dentists to say!

However, she's been saying it for years and it still feels rock solid, so I'm not worrying about it at the moment.

I had one which was going strong until I had DD...I ground my teeth so much in labour that it moved and then started wobbling and fell out a couple of weeks later! It was weird to have a wobbly tooth at 32 but at least I can now tell DD I remember how it feels! I just have a gap there now as it's near the back.

I had two that were removed and I have two bridges, the adult teeth are still in my gum

61 and it’s still hanging on in there ! I never think about it until my dentist reminds me - she uses me as an example to a young boy patient she has . If and when it goes I shall have whatever replacement is available and that I can afford.

Yeah, one of my pre molars hung in until I was about 26. It had to be taken out after it cracked and rotted!
After a few years the teeth round about starting shifting and I ended up with tiny gaps around my front teeth. I decided to get an implant. Best decision ever.
The tiny gaps have almost gone as the implant has bedded in and no gaps and no bother at all. 😁

One of my top outer incisors is a baby tooth. The matching one on the other side is missing - no baby or adult tooth as it never came through. I’m 39 and only found out at the dentist a few months ago that it was still a baby tooth, I’d always just thought it was a bit on the small side! I also only ever had one wisdom tooth come through.

ShanghaiDiva · 25/11/2021 21:58

I am 53 and have one.
Dentist comments on it every visit, but no problems to date.

This is fascinating! I never realised it was a thing but it seems really common given the number of replies!

Two bottom front teeth. I’m 62!
Stepfather had three or four, still had them when he died in his mid eighties.

I’m in my mid 40s. I have two baby teeth- both still going strong.
