Councils that incinerate waste

This might be a really stupid question, but can anyone tell me how 'bad' it is using things like disposable nappies and wipes if your local council incinerates everything you put in the bin?

I think it's becoming more common for councils to do this. I have used cloth nappies but don't now my baby goes to nursery as I don't have the time for all the washing and it is a faff. People tell me a disposable nappy takes 400 years to degrade, but if my local council incinerate waste with the heat used to generate electricity, surely that's not as bad?

Incinerating releases harmful chemicals in the air.

We need Elon to devise a way to send our rubbish to the moon.

The energy from waste plants today are much cleaner in terms of emissions than the old waste incinerators. Plus they generate electricity.

I live in an area that incinerates waste too. We still recycle things too.

So I don't get too worried about using disposable sanitary protection (my son is now grown up so no nappy dilemmas).

As for the Moon, I was shocked the other month to read that when "we" went to the Moon we dumped rubbish there!

Same here, I still recycle as much as possible but I don’t sweat shoving things like wrapping off veg etc in the bin. It’s a waste to energy plant, I’m sure it’s not perfect but it’s got to be better than landfill.

It uses an enormous amount of energy to burn stuff and it also releases nasty toxins into the air that affect air quality.

I think on balance it’s probably better than leaving them in landfill though

Give Naty nappies a try. Biodegradable. We used them for all dcs and never had an issue.
