My 16yo boy has said he wants to go to 6th form open evenings on his own should I still go?

He has said he wants to go on his own. Surely that’s your answer?

I think if he wants to go on his own, let him. I went to some but I don't think it would have made a difference if I didn't.
DS dismissed the local 6th form college within two minutes of setting foot in the building, plus he knew what he wanted to take for A level which is the main decision.

It used to be the way. However, our school sixth form specified all young people must come with an adult - but an adult can come with up to 3 young people.

It is fine and he has said he wants to go alone, but I would be a little hurt as I’ve enjoyed sharing the experience - but that’s my problem not my DC’s.

I think it is great he feel independent enough to go on his own.

However it wouldn't necessarily hurt for you to go too, but separately. You can get a feel for places yourself, ask about boring things like progress reporting to parents, travel, starting with 4 and dropping to 3 etc.

You can pick up leaflets on his preferred subjects (in case h doesn't) as some subjects eg history have different options.
