Experience of increasing Sertraline dose

I’m hoping someone can share their experience of increasing their dosage of Sertraline please.

I have been taking 50mg for almost a year. A couple of weeks ago I recognised that my anxiety had increased and was affecting my day to day living. The doctor increased my dose to 100mg. For 2 weeks I’ve had no side effects. If anything I’ve felt a lot better, although that’s probably a placebo effect.

For the last 2 days I’ve taken a proper nose dive and am feeling hugely depressed. I’ve read that people got side effects immediately on increasing their dosage. Has anyone had any experience of delayed effects?

I’m just looking for some reassurance that this is normal.

I had the same, plus I get insomnia from hell and heartburn (have to break the tablets up, swallow with a mouthful of food and then have a big drink where I can take any other tablet without even having water).

But yes, when I went up to 100mg, I found I had a dip in mood and increased anxiety levels for a little while after the increase. However, this did pass and I continue to put up with the above side effects because it really does work for me. I am a different person once my body adjusts to it (I am on and off it, longstanding anxiety issues).

On the plus side, I have some crackingly intense dreams that I remember fully when I wake up, they don't fade like normal dreams, which I like. They're not about anything specific and rarely about anything bad, they're just super intense.

Read the information leaflet, it does state possible worsening of mood initially but if you're concerned, try to speak to your GP (I know this is not easy at present) but do not just stop taking them, you need to wean off slowly.

I hope things settle down and that they are of help in the long term.
