weighted blanket

My daughter is asking for a weighted blanket for Christmas.
I have no idea about these so if anybody has any idea on the best places to shop then i would be very grateful. She's 14 if that makes any difference, I could spend up to £100 but not much more.

I ordered a Mela weighted blanket, I got it on offer for £75, but not sure how much they are without an offer.

I got mine from Amazon

I saw them in the middle of Lidl a couple of weeks ago, might be worth a look in case they are still around!

I have brought one from Amazon- Brentford I think for £25, it's lovely and had very good reviews

I'm not sure how much it is, as it was a gift, but I've got a Koala blanket which I really rate.

I love mine, it's the teddy fleece one from here. They didn't have the crushed velvet ones when I got mine, but they look good too.

I've bought several from there for me and the DC's. Highly recommended.

Weighted blankets are supposed to be chosen based on the weight of the user, so it's worth taking that into consideration. Around 10% of body weight is normally recommended.

They're great , I know it sounds silly but make sure you buy the right weight , if I remember right it needs to be 10% of the users body weight if that makes sense - happy to be corrected on that by those more knowlegable . My ASD son has one and its transformed his quality of sleep .

I got mine from John Lewis.

HoardingSamphireSaurus · 24/11/2021 15:45

And if she is serious about wanting it for its therapeutic reasons you might need to get one with 2 covers, a keep cool and a snuggly one.

I trawled Amazon making a list of things it had to have before going elsewhere to buy one based on that list.

I got one for dd which cost £75 but she doesn't like the feel of the material. So need to check this out if sensitive to textiles.

CiaoForDiNiaoSaur · 24/11/2021 15:50

Like other have said roughly 10% of her body weight.

Also make sure it's either light enough to go in your machine, or has removable covers that you can wash. When I bought mine I found a lot of them were weird sizes so you could only buy the covers from the same brand, which were expensive. Mine's the same size as a single duvet so I can use any of the DCs old covers.
