Baby stopped sleeping during the night

My baby is 7 weeks old and slept through the night for 2 weeks, sleeping for between 8-10 hours (which I know is really good at his age). He has now reverted to usual sleeping of waking up during the night, so I've been giving him a bottle which he has been taking. I felt great and like a new women while he was sleeping so well but can't understand why he's reverted and I feel gutted as I feel he has teased me with this great like then thought no you're not having it that easy Grin. I have to hold him until he falls back to sleep and then transfer him so I can be up for about an hour each time. Any advice on how to get him sleeping through again or why this has happened? I'm swaddling him in a sleep bag and playing white noise. He is not going through a growth spurt I don't think as that has just recently happened.

Look up 8 week growth spur, he may be on his way. They happen quite frequently for a while (12 and 16 weeks can also be a mess). If he is properly drinking the milk he obvioudly needs it.

I think you need to go with the flow at that age and don't overthink too much.

Congratulations on your baby. This is all totally normal and you have to ride it out but the 5 Ss can help. Have you read up on the fourth trimester?

Women need to be better prepared for developmentally appropriate sleep deprivation when TTC as it seems to come as such a shock that many babies need to be either fed to sleep or held to stay asleep for the first 12 weeks at least. Then expect another few weeks of no sleep every couple of months until your baby is 2 Smile.

I agree, DH often camped in DD's room as a toddler when she had sleeping issues for a couple of days every couple of months.

Baby sleep is one of the most untalked topics during antenatal courses and never ever believe parents who say their darlings sleep all the time. They do lie.
