Why is it when doctors are kind you worry more?

My mum … I’ve had threads on here before, she’s 56 and they aren’t sure if she has early onset Alzheimer’s or not . She’s got huge cognitive decline and she’s lost three stone .

I’ve only been home with her for three days (I’m a student), but had to phone social work this morning to get an update, and then her GP rang me, and then hospital consultant is ringing me later too.

They’re all being very - very - kind . I’ve worked in the NHS - I used to work alongside Mum’s consultant - if they thought it was minor they wouldn’t be phoning so much and they wouldn’t be so kind … it’s thrown me completely - as stupid as that sounds as it’s lovely for people to be kind, but GP said a lot about ‘if it’s difficult news we will support you, we are always here whenever you need us etc’ and I’m sitting a bit panicked that they’re thinking the worst.

They said they’re considering admitting Mum for a couple of weeks for assessment and that’s panicked me too, they only do that if things are complex or if there’s doubt as to diagnosis … it’s all panicked me a bit .

How can I keep going at the moment? I’m wondering at what point I tell uni and ask for their help .
