I'm on the for a mobility scooter for my mum.
Looking for something that is folding for the car and easy to store at home. Can anyone recommend something?
Can you go in shops with a mobility scooter? I can't say I've ever noticed one in any of our shopping centres.

Look for Scooters called Boot Scooters as they will dismantle for boot transport.
Also you can get Scooters (expensive) that simply fold down.
Yes a small Scooter should be able to go round a supermarket - less so a small shop.
I have a Days Strider 1 Scooter which is compact and is good for getting around on.
Perhaps a look on EBay may give you some ideas.
Taking out insurance is a good idea (there is a company that specialises for mobility scooters) also an annual service to keep in best condition.

If costs happen to be an issue, I highly recommend Mobility Giant! They do long/short term leasing. A good idea if you want to try out some different models. Otherwise any local disability shops which sell them, are usually very knowledgeable and honest! In my experience anyway.

As for one to pop in your car, I recommend the GoGo range and the Revo range. One thing about folding scooters though, they usually have a weight limit. Of course I've no idea if that's relevant to you or not, but thought I'd mention it just in case.

Oh and yes, you can go in anywhere on a mobility scooter - anywhere that you'll fit, anyway!!

Or, at the higher end of the price range, there's this! www.quingoscooters.com/compact-mobility-scooter/

All scooters and wheelchairs have a weight limit. Folding ones just have a lower one.

If you/she are worried about being able to go in places with a scooter, a small powerchair maybe better. The small ones fold to go in a car. Also had the benefit of being easier to stay in at a table if going for a meal or a coffee.

I need a bigger/more robust powerchair then a folding one but friends have good experiences with the i-Go from Pride Mobility.

Also, bare in mind that if she leaves it unsecured outside somewhere it may void the insurance (my powerchair insurance has a clause about this).

I like my powerchair but this would need a hoist to get into a car or two adults can lift it.
My wheelchair

Turns on a dime and can go in shops etc.

I've got a go-go which fits in my focus boot with no issue. The battery pack is a bit heavy but I normally have my husband to help get it in and out. I could get a lift arm for my car but am likely to replace it in the next couple of years but will invest in one for my next car.

I find it manages most terrains and have taken it off road and also into several concerts with no issue. It was reccommended byt a friend who owned a shop and confirmed it was a trustworthy brand.

Where we live there are two mobility/disability shops.
Both have a large range of scooters that you can try.

I have a TravelScoot which is super lightweight and easily foldable. I love it. The downside is the price - it’s about twice the price of most other scooters. mytravelscoot.co.uk/
