Annoyed and embarrassed at the end of a friendship.

Last night eight of us went to see a singer at a local club. Ages range from 35-50.
We all took our children aged between 14-16. (4 children)
One of these couples turned up and we could tell they had already been drinking.
They then got their DS 16 a pint of lager then kicked off because we were telling them he can't drink alcohol. It ended up with him being sick all over the table, seats and floor. By this time we know he had drank 3 pints in this place what he had before. Never mind how much the parents had drunk.
The other children were happy to drink soft drinks.
She then stood up to start shouting about her son being allowed to drink and knocked a full table of drinks over belonging to another party.
Her partner just walked away vaping as he was angry that he had to pay for more drinks for this other party.
Thank goodness they left after this incident.
Today the other 3 couples got a very nasty email to say that WE had embarrassed them.
We were treating them like babies not supporting the son in drinking.
This isn't the first time they have turned up drunk.
We have decided that this is the end. We have been friends for nearly 20 years so we are not kids.
I'm all for having a good time but it was ridiculous.

@Aliveandkicking23

I hope none of you go out for a nice night out and the next thing sick is everywhere, tables and glasses smashed.
Confused

Who are you aiming this at?

Personally I have no time for dps who supply under age dc with alcohol. Good on you op..

Madworld26 · 21/11/2021 19:56

I wouldn’t get involved in a 16 year old drinking and can see how that would rub them up the wrong way. Are you the fun police? He’s not 5.

However YANBU to want to walk away from the friendship if they act ridiculously after a drink as I have been in this situation and it’s very wearing.

This! I never understand why on Mumsnet everyone always suggests sending emails to friends/relatives/partners/neighbours rather than a text or a phone call

There's fun and then there's vomiting all over a table and there's a big gaping hole in between the two where common sense should have been.

I don't blame you op, they sound horrendous. I probably wouldn't have pulled them up on a pint for their son, but supplying him with enough booze to vomit all over the place is something else entirely.

BlowDryRat · 21/11/2021 20:16

YANBU. They sound rough and embarrassing.

AwaAnBileYerHeid · 21/11/2021 20:31

They sound rough as badgers bums. How embarrassing.

orchardgirl4 · 21/11/2021 21:48

Sounds illegal? I'd have said something too, concerned for their child's welfare and health. I'd consider reporting them too.
There's no '?' in your post, though, so not sure what you are asking. I agree with ending that friendship, however.

Sounds like something the sad cases in my in-laws' village would do 🤣
BoredZelda · 21/11/2021 23:15

or the club could get into trouble for serving under age.

Which they rightly should have done.

I email my sister / parents all the time. Email for when you need more than a few lines of text, and when a phone call isn’t possible.

If a minor us caught buying or consuming alcohol then the venue or publican can loose their licence.
Drinking alcohol at 16 in your own home is OK but when you out someone's livelihood and business in jeopardy then it's not.
I wouldn't miss this person's friendship if I were you, sometimes it's good to move on if you're incompatible.
