Would you be scrambling for loose cash?

Would it happen here? I just can't imagine chasing after a load of "free" cash that it was clear didn't belong to me.

I suppose if I was very desperate, but other than that?

No I wouldn’t. I’d think it was either a trick and I was being filmed or Id assume anyone taking the money would be prosecuted as it was obviously bank money.

MaryAndGerryLivingInDerry · 20/11/2021 13:30

But tbh I’ve found money in the street before and brought it to the police station. It doesn’t matter the circumstances of finding it- it’s not mine.

x2boys · 20/11/2021 13:30

Well your very honest ,but I can imagine a lot of people here would do the same🤣

I took £10 I found in the street to the police when I was a teenager. No one claimed it and I got to keep it anyway, after so many weeks. I don't think they still do that. I wonder what does happen?

When DC found coins in the street as children I always made them put it in a charity box

Course you would.

Can you honestly hand on heart say if you're family was struggling and you're having to go to food banks to feed your kids. Tgeres no presents for Christmas this year. And you see a load of £20 and £10's you wouldn't be tempted? You really dont think anyone would pick it up ?

I said I would if I was desperate.

But other than that? No, I'd be too embarrassed to behave like that in public for a start.

I'm not surprised - I grew up not far from where the crash was. It's an expensive place and people probably thought it was a stunt.

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 20/11/2021 13:48

I wouldnt run after it. If it landed at my feet, yes, id have it.

ComtesseDeSpair · 20/11/2021 13:53

If I was desperate I’m sure I would. But I’m not and as the article clearly states, it’s considered theft and in an age of phone video and high surveillance the risk of being caught and prosecuted would outweigh my desire to see if I could grab a couple of hundred pounds in notes.

hellywelly3 · 20/11/2021 13:56

If I could see it come out the van then no. But if it was just blowing around then I probably would

videovixen · 20/11/2021 14:33

Yup I would. I wouldn't go chasing after money like a headless chicken but if I stepped out of the car and loads of notes was at my feet, I'd definitely pick it up.
Even if it wasn't loads and just a few, I'd still pick it up

SDperson · 20/11/2021 14:52

I'm more concerned that they stopped & got out of their cars on the F'ing Freeway to grab at the cash. At 9:15am on a Friday, it's a busy stretch of motorway. I also grew up nearby. Would you stop on hard shoulder of any busy motorway at 9am to run around & collect cash -- is your life worth so little?

Kennykenkencat · 20/11/2021 15:22

Of course you would even if it is to help collect it and give it back to the truck driver.
